Right now the 2ndchance is down for maintenance prior to Striper season really starts happening. I took my yearly King Mackerel trip on the Miss Hatteras Friday...

    Spade Fish

I took my son, brother in law and my niece's boy friend to the CBBT to look for Spade Fish and Flounder. The 10 Spade fish that we caught were small but still fun to catch. The bite at the bridge was slow so I decided to go to the Anglo African wreck. We cauhgt a few more Spades there along with...

    Back Up Plan

I was Finally able to get my son turned on to what I think is one of the most fighting fish (pound for pound) on the Atlantic Coast. We went out to the CBBT looking for Flounder but we couldn't find any keepers. Luckly I brought some preshucked Clams as a backup plan. We were able to limit out...

    Major Mile Stone

I was finally able to get the Commodor (AKA Wifey) ;D out on the V. We fished at the West Norfolk Bridge in P town. I ventured out to the N&W Coal piers where we found a very large school of Porpose :). I would like like to thank the fish Gods for sending them. They had her facinated, and me...

    Motor head question.

This 1 is for all you motor heads out there. I have a gallon jug of 2 cycle oil that I bought 4 years ago. The foil seal is still on the oil. Should I use that oil or chunk it? One of my buddies suggested using it at a 2 to 1 ratio with new oil.

    Let there be light.

Let there be light on the deck ;D that is. I decided that if I'm going to the 9' shoal next week some time to look for some big Reds I better get some deck lighting installed. I also need some cabin lighting but that will haappen next week.

    My goal was reached.

When I started working on the V in November I had a goal in mind which was today. I made up my mind that my V would fish in our annual Hunt for Hard Heads Tournament between the Portsmouth Anglers Club and the Great Bridge Anglers Club. We won the tournament 18 points to 9 points. :) Scoring...

    splash Down In P Town

I finally got all the major projects done so I can at least take the V fishing. Today was the shake down cruise. Since I was going to in the river I went ahead and caught a few Croakers. Believe it or not the nasty little buggers s&#t and bled in the V.  ;D Now I had to give it a bath also ;)...

    Windshield repair

I finally got around to repairing the starboard windsheild. I took a few pics for the picture hounds. After removing the screws, notice the chunk of Gel coat that is missing and the void that was under it. The area after prepping. I didn't take any pics of mixing the Marine Tex and fairing the...

    Finish Work Started

I finally started doing some of the finish work on the V. I started with the cotroll cables that run from the throttle controll into the hull. Before After I used some of that stuff that you wrap around cable bundles and installed a new anti chaffing ring.

    Splash Down!!!!!!!!!!

I was finally able to go for a boat ride. It took my engine guy 2 days to get it all done. The motor ran well but I do have a few minor problems to resolve, nothing that I can't fix in a couple of hours. She was able to do 32.5 knots at WOT 5200 RPM according to my GPS. Not to shabby for a 115...

    What type of Resin

What type of resin did Wellcraft use when they built the V20? Mines a 1980and there are several areas that I what to repair/modify and if I can get away with the polyester resin I will. I know that the polyester won't bond to epoxy but it will bond to itself.

    Ouch!

You gotta hate it when you got to drill several large holes in your new transom :( But the controlls have to be installed :) :) Now thats what I call a beefy transon. The plug is 2" thick! I got my son to come over and give me a hand. He is doing his best Picasso imitation. The future...
