Trout anyone cook em?

I don't like them. Rainbow trout mostly. Hot smoked some. Still didn't like em. Put in cast iron pan after smoking and they were a little better. Fun to catch. But if they swallow the hook I keep them. Dont want to just let them die.
 
Fished a reservoir a couple of weeks ago that gets stocked pretty heavily and caught quite a few that had wintered over, 18 - 19+” and I think they smoked pretty nice. I agree that trout aren’t hardly ever good eating if you just cook them.
 
Bigger ones that have been in cold water seem best. With any fish it’s important to not over cook them. If my wife wasn’t such a terrific cook, I’d watch a bunch of YouTube trout/fish cooking videos and try stuff like you say. If you can cut a decent grade with a hoe or dozer, you can definitely learn to do a good job on fish.
