    Trim tabs……

So the boat has Bennett trim tabs, BUT…… I don’t think they’re adjustable. I believe they’re spring loaded. They’re trimmed down and I can pull it up. I guess they’ll self adjust while under way. I’ve never had a boat with tabs so I don’t know anything about these. I guess we’ll see what happens.

    Well, she’s home.

This morning, a guy pulled up in front of my house pulling behind his truck, a 1992 Wellcraft V20. He backed it into my driveway and I put $4,000 in his hand and he drove away with the money. I suppose it’s mine now. It’s shrink wrapped so there’s not much to see. Even if it wasn’t, I couldn’t...

    Action cameras….

So the go-pro is not even a consideration. Too expensive. I see many companies making lookalike cameras. Much cheaper. 4K. Wifi. All the bells and whistles. Many under a hundred bucks. What are you guys using? What do you like about it? What do you not like about it? And… GO!!

Idea for new captain’s helm seat.

So if you’ve never seen the inside of an operating cab, we have these big, heavy seats for the engineers. It’s infinitely adjustable has heavy duty suspension. If I can work something out with one of the trains recently taken out of service, and have the drive to do the swap…. They’re quite...

    2001 115 Yamaha…..

Ok, change on the change on the change on the change. 1992 V20 with a 2001 115 Yamaha. It doesn’t look like a 4 stroke, but what do I know?!? How fast (or slow) will this motor push the boat? I think I might have a deal on this one. It seems a bit underpowered to me, but I’ve seen a few of them...

    Penn peerless 9

Same as the peer 9m. Anybody have extra parts laying around? I need the screws that hold the reel seat/stand to the reel. Tiny little things. I can’t find them anywhere. There are 4 of them. I need 2, but I’ll take 4. I’ll pay fair price plus shipping. Thanks.

    Decal vs gelcoat…..

So I thought I heard somebody say the stripe on the side of hydra sports was gelcoat. I was kind of hoping it was a decal, as I was hoping to remove it and leave the hull white. Any thoughts? Pictured below.

    Trailering vs docking...

So I’m about to take possession of my next boat. It’s a hydra sports 2400CD. It’s sitting on a tandem aluminum trailer that needs a bit of work. My close ramp is less than half a mile drive. The next one is about 4 miles. So I want to trailer the boat and my wife wants to rent dock space. Both...

    Hydra sports.....

https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/2994148324165030/ I think this is where I’m gonna land. It’s already been pulled and winterized. I’m gonna see if he has video of it running. He’s down to $4K. I think based on the fact that I can’t run it, I’m gonna try to get him down to $3,500. What...

    Penn spinners....

So I’ve always used penn reels. I’ve always loved penn reels. I have a bunch of old USA conventionals that operate as intended. I took an old senator apart, cleaned, relubed and put a power handle on. It can pull your house off it’s foundation! I have a few penn spinners as well. A couple old...

    Happy father’s day!!!

As many of you know, I lost my dad back in early 2012. Most holidays have never been the same for me, but this is a big one. Many times, we would spend the morning drifting for fluke and then go for breakfast/lunch. Then we’d get together with aunts, uncles and cousins and fire up the grill, or...

but first, a little back story......

this might turn out to be a bit long winded, so if you dont have the time or the patience.... bail now. my father was on the water almost his whole life. he bought a little outboard motor at 15 or so and he used to get on the subway at coney island, his home, and carry that little outboard to...

    Same as it ever was.....

So, the V20. The design hasn***8217;t changed a lick in almost 60 years. The classic Bertram hull. The original deep V. A well built, heavy boat that handles a solid chop. BUT...... Compare the iconic V to it***8217;s modern counterparts. Let***8217;s be honest. It***8217;s not a great ride...

    F150 Spare? Ferm? Anybody?

It seems the 2000 to 2012 era F150 is reasonable in price. What do you guys think? My mother in law just sold her place on the boardwalk and bought a condo down south. She made some nice dough, so she wrote us a pretty nice check. I begged my wife to spend it on herself, maybe upgrade her ride...

    Toyota Sequoia

Somehow, I came into a couple bucks, ($3,000 to $5,500) and I’m looking for something with some balls. I’m not really familiar with the sequoia but I know Toyota quality. Looks like something in the 2000 to 2007 range would be in my price point. I’m not against a Tahoe, Yukon or suburban, but...
