    Fuel tank removal

Since the engine is down anyway, I decided to pull the gas tank for inspection and/or replacement. Removing the foam around the tank was the least enjoyable project I've gotten into, so far. I used a pressure washer, hammer, and flatbar to remove the foam. If the pressure washer is the...

starting rebuild on '94 Evinrude 175hp

So the powerhead is finally torn down completely and I'm gonna try and put it back together. No internal damage, it just rusted up inside and froze up. To me, it looked like the wrists of the piston arms were what was so seized up that the crankshaft wouldn't turn. Four of the six piston arms...

    Still need help - 94' Evinrude 175HP

I made a quick video, (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aGc3E_qacLw&feature=youtube_gdata) which I hope can present my question better than I have in previous posts. My problem is that I can't lift the powerhead off the midsection. Skools had previously said "the powerhead adapter is coming off...

    need help tearing down powerhead

Because my motor seized up, I'm trying to disassemble it to find out where the corrosion was and how it got in. I have pulled my cylinder heads and the carbs and am now trying to pull the front section of the block off of the powerhead. Is there any secret to it? There is a shifting rod blocking...

    Can't start the boat

I am having ongoing issues. A few weeks ago, I topped off all the cells on both batteries, which were all low, then plugged in the charger. After charging, I still can't turn the boat over, so I'm not sure if it's the battieries or the starter, which sounds a little rough. Today I test the...

    bow rail fittings

Finally getting around to installing the bow rail I picked up awhile back. Gonna look sweet. Does anyone know where to find the two end fittings?

    Found a bow rail

I'm going to pick up a bow rail for my boat. Can anyone tell me what fasteners I should expect to remove? Are they just screws like wood or sheet metal screws, or are they fasteners, like nuts and bolts that need to be gripped from the underside while the screw is turned? Thanks, Aaron

    Lobster season

Well we went out for mini-season, but didn't have much luck. Went again last Saturday to 105' depth and found a few. The big one is a Florida Spiny, much bigger than average. The ugly looking ones are Spanish Lobsters, or Slippers, which we got 11 of. No pinchers on these like you guys have...

    Steinhatchee raft-up

Well, sort-of. This '91 V was docked two slips down from us in Steinhatchee last weekend. Looked nice and clean. The owner bought it for $3500 and the seller delivered it to him in Gainesville from Tampa. He said he hasn't done anything to it since. You can see my V in the 1st picture...

    Another spearfishing video

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riVc0E3SHgY In case you guys aren't already tired of watching the videos, here's one from Sunday. I only did two drops... one on a ledge and another on a barge. Visibility wasn't great, but manageable. At the beginning, as I swim towards the jug line on top of...

    spearfishing video

Here's a video I posted on youtube from last weekend, for anyone who's interested. This is my first video, so it's not top quality. Hope you'll enjoy it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YM0L4TD9UmM I think I'm gonna buy a headstrap for the camera because the gun mount doesn't offer all of...

    Pics of the boat

Most of you have seen it already, but not in awhile and with the tank racks installed. What I love about this boat is how functional it is and how easy it is to keep clean. Here are some pics from yesterday after a quick rinse off from the day's diving. We're calling it Grocery Getter...

    lost ignition key

I left the key on top of the gunnel at the gas pump today and it's gone. Naturally, I don't have a spare. What is my best course of action? Obviously, I'd like to keep the cost down, but I really don't want the boat out of commission for next weekend. Help! Thanks, Aaron

Grouper season open in the Southeast Atlantic

We got outta Mayport in some 3-5 ft seas in a friends boat on Sunday for the 1st day of grouper hunting. I honestly think my V would've handled it better than Dave's 23' Seapro, but that's another story. We got a few flounder, a trigger, and two grouper. The big one was 34"... my personal best.

    yet another sheepshead slaughter

and the 1st cobia of the year! We had a perfect day for it... sunny, 85 degrees, 1 ft seas.. and we caught enough to make it worthwhile. The big sheep was 7.5 lbs, the cobia was 36" long.

    sheepshead for dinner

Went spearfishing off Jacksonville today and got some flounder and sheepshead. The sheeps on our wrecks are huge, right now. For reference, the smallest flounder in the grass at the bottom of pic 3 was 13.5" (he was the only fish measured, although the littlest sheep was barely legal, too)...

    Losing prime

We had a great boat ride last weekend... 50+ miles with no problems. Yesterday we rode about 12 miles out, anchored for maybe 2 hours. Then after pulling up the anchor and turning in, we get on plane for less than a minute and the engine dies. I restart and rev... seems okay... give it some...

    Splashdown!

Put the V in the water today. I bought it in October, so this was much anticipated. The boat handled very well, but the engine didn't seem 100%. We ran it for an hour or so and it felt rough - the whole boat was vibrating at low speeds. And the tach isn't working right - it was erratic from 0 to...
