    Baja fishing/diving opportunity!

Hi all, I have a trip scheduled to fish the Midriff islands in the Sea of Cortez on the panga mothership Andrea Lynn.  We have had 2 people drop out on short notice and are looking for replacements.  EVERYTHING is organized for the trip.  Our group will travel on a bus from San Diego to San...

If you find yourself in Alaska

I've been fortunate to have been able to make 2 trips to Alaska over the years. Both times we fished out of Homer for 4 days for Halibut. (On the last trip 5 of us brought home a total of twelve 60# boxes of halibut fillets) I entered the famous "Homer Halibut Derby" each day but never caught...

    Prop question for MJ

MJ, I was looking at your gallery and it looks like we have about the same outboard... (150 HP Yamaha?). I think mine's a ~ 1987. I remember you saying that your favorite prop is a 15 1/4 x 15. I still haven't splashed my boat but if I recall correctly it came with a 17 pitch prop. Here's my...

    Salmon... From start to finish

First Salmon trip out of Northern CA today. (My buddy's boat, not the V). We fought the fur bags... ummm I mean the sealions for much of the day. Anyway, the pictures'll tell the tale. Small silver salmon that would have been released... well I released what was left of him after the fur bag...

    Primer Day

The drizzle finally let up today. My brother Eric lives next door and came over to help me spray on the primer. I am just painting from the gunnels up at this point and everything in the cockpit. The first two pics were taken before the paint was applied. The last is of the TunaBrothers having fun.

    Last Night At The TunaHouse

I have a "Guy's room" over the garage.  It was put to use last night for the Ultimate Fight.  Here are a few pictures from the festivities.  Cigars, Jack Daniels, Beer and 3 trays of sandwiches from Subway... All in all a very good evening. Dean making the first of many toasts for the evening...

    Small announcement

Four weeks from today I leave for a week of fishing in Midriff Islands on the Andrea Lynn.  Living aboard the ship in the Sea of Cortez, up to fish early each AM, return to the boat for lunch then fishing from the smaller boats until sunset...  Dinner at the ship then fishing for bait and squid...

I played Hookey today (w/ pics!)

First trip of the season was great!!! (Though it was in my buddy's boat rather than the V20) I'll let the pictures tell the story: Leaving the port of Trinidad California. Adam is baiting a crab pot (dungeness crab season is open until 8/1) Pretty marginal ocean conditions ;D This is ~ 17...

    Aaarrrgghhh!!!

Had to vent a little frustration. Drove to work this morning and passed 5 boats headed the other way toward the launch ramp. Today is the first good weather window we had since the salmon season opened at the beginning of the month. Naturally, the seas are predicted to build to 9 feet over the...

    MJ's Contest!

Ok guys, time to cheer up a brother.  If you've been following MJ's hospital updates you know he's gettin' kinda testy.  Comes from watching too much daytime TV I think...  Anyway, I suggest we go out of our way to find funny/wierd/gross items on the net to keep his sagging spirits up. I...

    Baby Steps

I am not an electrician.  I am a Nurse Practitioner.  I can recognize copper wire 2 out of 3 times in adequate lighting.  But, over the past several days I have wired 4 pumps for the V including a 3 way switch for the bilge pump.  All connections soldered, covered with heat shrink tubing and...

    ? for BlueRunner and Hammer

I'm going to be installing my swim platform soon. Looking at the gallery you two have them installed at slightly different heights. Do either of you have and problems with the platforms (dragging in the water...) TH

    Sea Sickness

Randleman mentioned his friends getting sea sick recently on a thread in the fishing section. I've had that problem as well where my buddies will be on their knees chumming rather than fishing. After waiting out the winter, all of the work of getting the boat ready, gas prices... time on the...

    Claim to fame...

My V is definately NOT the prettiest on the site and, with a late '80s 150 hp she won't be the fastest. But I'll bet all of Hammer's donuts for the next month that it's the BEST TRAVELLED boat on the site. You might recall that I bought it in New Jersey and had it hauled to Cailfornia. I was...

    "Prop Wizard"

I don't know if this link has been posted before so apologies in advance if it is redundant... I ran across this online program to help with prop selection called "Prop Wizard". I'm just learning about props and diameter, pitch etc... Thought this was interesting...

    Scandinavian women

This is really meant to be a guide for Swede on what types of pictures we want to see. When I was visiting my family in Norway the country was celebrating the 100th anniversary of it's separation from Sweden. For those of you who aren't up to speed on your Scandinavian history the Norwegian...

    Keel roller pics for Hammer

It looks flimsy but trust me, its solid. As I mentioned, it is not bearing any weight. It's only there to guide the bow over the part of the trailer that was gouging into it.

    On or Off?

I know I'm opening up a can of worms here but I have myself a conundrum.  My brother and I took the bow rail off today.  It was a P.I.T.A. due to twisted bolts and corroded nuts that can best be described as "crusty bits" (see pic # 1 with the last bit of the headliner that was removed). I...
