Hey Spare - I see you're on right now - or anyone else.....
I cleaned up the rusty, pitted shaft and installed new seals, but still leaked out the weep hole. The shoulder of the cam shaft isn't beveled, so it's hard to get the seals on, especially while fighting the rest of the fit (particularly where the casting meets the oil pan gasket at the bottom without scraping off all the RTV).
I buggered up the outer (water side) seal getting it on. Is there a trick to getting the thing back together without wrecking the new seal again?
I think I'll sleeve the shaft with a Speedy Sleeve this time to be sure I have a good surface for the seal to ride on - of course that's going to make the seals even harder to get on.
