1983 v20 steplift with Johnson 140HP OB.

I bought this boat for 2k with the Johnson 140. The motor does not run and i am replacing it with a Yamaha 150 off of my bayliner.



Does anyone know if the Johnson 140 was standard with this boat when first sold or possibly an option?

Welcome to the site and congrats on the new boat.

The way I remember it back then, outboard boats came from the factory with no motor and the dealer would put on what you wanted as far as size, but whatever brand they sold.

Although I guess the Seadrive models were probably factory rigged.

From all the V20's I have ever seen, most came with a Johnson 140 or 150. Seems to have been popular motors for that class boat.

Hi. Welcome to the site. Like others have said, most times the boat came without an engine to the dealer, and the dealer put on whatever size the customer wanted, up to the legal limit. The 150 HP engine seems to be the best all around choice for these boats, so putting an that engine from your Bayliner is right in the ballpark.
