25 inch transom????

If you are on a lake you can get away with a 20". For ocean or really big lake, go with 25".
The 20" is closer to the waterline, hence more water comes in from waves.
Of course, If you already have a 20" motor, well there you go....

A 20" is way to close to the water for my liking! Motor is always getting back washed when in the ocean, never mind the water getting in the boat! My V was a i/o and that is grat, no sateror anything, thats why when the motor died I went gill bracket set at 25, on a full transom, nothing better then that

OOOOOOOOH! I like that. I haven't bought my motor yet. I like that full transom.

Being that you did the full transom its not hard to go the rest of the way!! Brackets can be had off ebay or crigslist, even go toa boat place and ask if they have any take offs that they want to sell. thats the cheap way, other then that they can get $$$ mine was a take off that i made work!
