anyone ever put a 350 small block set up in a v20,i have some real nice 4 bolt main 350s setting around taking up space and i can get all the marine parts on ebay cheap, i know the out drive would have to be changed, but what about the motor mounts, and is there room for this block, and the extra weight

bent, i just purchased a 1986 v 20 with a 350. havent picked it up yet so dont know particulars but i know quite a few were sold with the small block.

there's a couple of them on this site. But is that a car motor or marine motor. if it's a car motor you'll have to change the cam to a marine cam. if you don't the motor at idle will suck water back up the exhaust into the motor due to valve over lap and duration.

there car motors with roller cams i new i would have to change them along with all the tin but its the mounting of the block to the boat i had that 470 with the front mount i would have to see the work that would have to be done for the small block to work and then what about HP i build these motor,s for short track racing that i never did they are up there in HP maybe a little to hot but i have the stock pistons for it

Interesting discussion. I was always under the impression that a car and boat motor rotated in opposite directions, and that was the need to replace the cam (and starter). Not that water could be sucked in through the exhaust?

BRASS FREEZE PLUGS, WATCH YOU DIPSTICK LOCATION - IT MUST CLEAR THE RISERS AND MANIFOLDS, MOTOR MOUNTS AT SECURED BY LAG BOLTS IN THE STRINGERS, USE PLENTY OF BEDDING COMPOUND ( 5200 BY 3M) AND COAT THE BOLTS ALSO. I WOULD ADD A REMOTE OIL FILTER AND OIL CHANGE HOSE

...and by the way, you'll need stainless head gaskets, and a marine water pump also... yeah it iwill run without these ... but they will both fail ,,, at the worst time!

water pump doesn't matter all have bronze or brass in them so that's not an issue just buy one at Advance Auto for a 1971 corvette and it is $24.95 and lifetime warranty. Just change it out every spring and tell them it's making noise. Then you know you have a new one every year for free. they even come with gaskets.

Franco, were you been dude? You lurker you :)
