About to pull the trigger……

So my wife says I should buy myself a reel. She says I deserve it. She tells me to use my basspro card and charge the slammer IV 3500 for $280. This little beast has 30 pounds of drag.
The spinfisher VI 3500 is on sale for $135. Basically half the price. Also half the drag. I have a slammer IV 5500 and the reel is bada$$. I also have a spinfisher V 7500 and that thing is pretty bada$$ too.
What would you guys do?
It actually hurts me to spend this kind of money on myself, but MAN!!! I sure do like that reel!

hehehe
You have enough spinning reels.
Unless you want to catch giant BFT off Rockaway with a popper. Then get the biggest one they make:bat:

IMO
Get a Penn Squall 30 star drag combo with a rod.
Perfect for striper/blues/fluke/bottom fishing

Lever drag version if you want to be fancy. lever drag is great for livelining bunker
Not "great" for bottom fishing but it'll do.

Stay away from the level wind version of anything.

Currently looking for a nice little spinner, Skunk. I went and pulled the trigger. I ordered the slammer 4, size 3500. We hit into a little bluefish blitz the other day and we were hooking up on every cast. We were passing the rod back and forth because I no longer have any light tackle. Since the boat isn’t going anywhere, I’m gonna shoot out to J & H this weekend and find a nice medium/light rod for my new reel. Now when the Spanish mock us, I’ll have my own gear with which to not catch them.

I ended up buying some Diawa BG4500's(maybe 5500s?) a while back, bought two combos. i cant remember what I paid for them, but rigged them up for planers for spanish and have them ready for cobia if I get the chance. So far, I've been pleased with them. they are a little big for spanish, should be about right for kings, maybe a little small for cobia, but i have to catch them first to make that decision.

My boy had a huge cobia on his shimano stradic 3000 a couple weeks back. Had him on for about 15 minutes before the knot failed. 10 pound braid. The kid loves fishing light tackle. The fish smacked him around a bit but the tackle held up.
