Anchor Roller / Pulpit

I just finished (with lots of help from a friend at work) mounting an anchor roller to my bow.  I used a thick piece of aluminum (scrap from work) for the mounting bracket and polished it so it looks great.  I found a big cleat at the recycle yard for $5.  The bolts go all the way through and I used a nice piece of stainless steel for a backing plate.  The roller wheel sticks out about 6 inches from the bow so that the anchor stays clear of the gelcoat. I tested it today and it works great too!  No more climbing onto the bow to drop or pull the anchor and it makes it much easier to pull the line!

hey cliff 6 inches doesnt sound like much clearance... what type of anchor do you use?

I'm not sure if it is exacltly 6 inches., but it's close. I use a Danforth style anchor that is made by Super Hooker and weighs 9 pounds. I checked the fit very closely before I drilled the holes! I wanted to cut it as closely as possible so my cover will still fit! By the way, I have to take the anchor off before I cover the boat, but the bracket fits.

Hey Cliff,
What are the dimensions and thickness of your anchor pulpit and which roller/mount did you use? Thanks, Barry

Cliff, I can tell from your pic that you have a cuddy, did you move your bow light or where they split already to each side. Also i see your bolt pattern, looks like you didnt thru bolt the roller/mount.

Aluminum vs Starboard HMMMMMMM which one will last longer ?

If I had the flat stock like Cliff, I would have gone that way.

But I happened to have a ton of Starboard left over and went that way!

Both are great!! and strong!!

So what it comes down to is what look you going for and how much work you want to do.

Starboard will need more time to build. And looks more like all the new boats look like, the Alumin will need less work to make and looks more unique.

OK, I've never seen a pic of MJ or CB, but lemme guess....MJ on right, CB on left. I do remember hearing CB helped you on boat....am I right? :D

edit; just looked again and I guess who's holding the pulpit is a give away too.

Great pulpits guys, nice work!

Nice job Cliff, mine is teak I believe and sticks out four or five more inches than yours. It's a lot of fun when you are at that end during trailering, launching etc. if you forget its there.
So watch your head ;)

Yes Tin Cb helped me with the boat!! and yes I am the one on the right!
It took a lot to get that pic!! CB kept looking at my nipples :o

Hey MJ,
Is Starboard difficult to work with? I had the dimensions of your pulpit and was trying to compare with Cliff's. Both look great. Which anchor roller/mount did you use? Do you think the larger roller/mount would work alone? I think it is 22' long and 3' wide. Thanks, Barry
