Well I had a hypertension crisis this past weekend. I'm telling you guys this so you don't have a scare like I did. After Christmas last year I was put on medication to regulate my blood pressure. It had risen to 221 over 121. Got it back down and all was good for a while. Couple of weeks ago I worked a 7 day, 12 hour shutdown in the steel mill. Being a senior mechanic I was tasked with the turret rebuild. Its a tough job, big heavy parts and tools. Its 64 steps from my tool box up to the deck where the ladle turret is. Made it through the shutdown but was exhausted when done. I didn't get a lot of sleep and ate some heavy, salty food during it all. Had three days off afterwards and felt worse everyday after. Finally checked my blood pressure and it was 230 over 119. Went to my Dr and he admitted me to the hospital immediately. They kept me for four days and did a bunch of test that all came back good. After three days and Bp still rising first three days and a lot of trial drugs it finally came back down. I'm 66 now and planning on retirement next April. I don't know how many of you are my age or older but please keep check and control your blood pressure.
