boat restoration

well personally i think it's an ugly boat, he did a fair job, I hope he checked to find out what the original boats weight cap was. he added way to much wood to that boat which fill up his weigh cap. you can do all you want to a boat but if you redo one as he did use a hull wider and with the highest total hauling weight cap avail. the hull was only designed to haul so much no matter and i'm sure he well over that. be careful guys when rebuilding / adding alot of that type stuff it will cause major problems down the road.
 
One of the reponses in his thread was "ghetto fabulous". Thats a good one. It sure is ugly. Somebody asked him about the weight and he said since he took off the existing tower he esimated 100 to 200 lbs more weight up top.....that doesnt sound too bad?


edit: I just read almost the whole thing....there was more than one person that questioned his weights....especially with the 63 gallon bait tank on the swim platform and 2 fuel tanks above deck. Got to give the guy some credit for persistence though....

I seriously will question the buoyancy of this vessel, In fact he mentioned buying resin by the 55 gallon drums, Fact is a 55 gallons of resin is about a couple hundred pounds alone. My hats off to him in regards to craftsmanship and attention to details.
 
gotta be a "east coast vs west coast" thing, but that is one ugly boat, before & after. you have to really admire the guy for having a vision and building it. reminds me of what ricky nelson told john lennon in madison square garden in 1971, "You can't please everyone, so you gotta please yourself."
noway would i put that much effort into a painted trailer....be gone in fl in about 2 years

I thought the same thing about that trailer. I admire the guy for his effort, but he should have found a hull worthy of it.
 
I admire the guy for all of his hard work too. I do not care for the look of the boat all that much, but, assuming it is seaworthy (and not too top heavy), it should be pretty practical for fishing. Not sure why, but for some reason I just perceive a tragedy in the making along the lines of that thing rolling over in a heavy sea.

I retract my issue with the amount of resin used, after completely reading his post he clearly knows his stuff.
I will now build me a rear seat on my V stay tune !
 
I will give him credit, he knows his stuff!! Great work there!!

But I question his choice of bot for all this work?? Man that thing is one ugly boat along with I don't think its all that fish able the way it is set up?
