Bow mounted trolling motor

Just wondering if anyone has an one mounted on a V20 cuddy? Apparently you can t catch a fish anymore unless you have spotlock. Sure makes it look easy. I was looking at the Rhodan. Was wondering which length shaft you had and what voltage and how long a charge would last. Realize there a lot of variables in that equation.

Thanks

I have a 60 inch 80lb Minn Kota Riptide Terrova on my cuddy. It holds well in current. I like side fishing structure here in the Chesapeake Bay and it is nice to back on into the structure and spot lock it and start fishing instead of fiddling with an anchor only to have the current change and have to reset. I will try to get a pic uploaded. I do not have a bow rail which would make a huge obstacle to overcome. I invested in Ionic batteries and have spot locked and trolled for 6-8 hours and had 60% battery left at the end of the day. They are smart batteries and connect to an app and you can monitor battery life, temp, cycles etc.

Nice setup Squid. I ve seen a couple mounted on Parker pilot houses, they were more off to the side and would fit under the rail.
Does yours self deploy or is it manual?

It’s manual. I couldn’t justify the extra money fir another moving part to fail. This is east enough to deploy. I just slide the hatch forward and I can reach the lever no problem. A quick flip and it’s in the water. A little more work to retrieve it but still not bad.

I wanted mine more to the side but on these there just not enough room without it hanging off the side of the boat when stowed. Also to get the clearance when deployed was another reason it’s where it is. I had to buy the quick disconnect bracket which was fine because I can easily put it in the garage if I’m not using it. But it helps get it out past the bow rail far enough. Other then my garmins it’s the best investment I’ve made on this boat for sure.

Thanks for the info. I m giving it some serious thought. We have several wrecks within 10- 15 miles of the beach. I mostly fish alone or with wife , so it s too much trouble to drop the hook 3 or 4 times to fish. Be nice to go out find a spot, hit the button, fish for 30-40 minutes and move to another.

I’m thinking about one of these to use for autopilot while trolling for salmon. I would use my kicker for speed and the minkota to hold a course. Will the 60” stay in the water trolling into 2-3’ waves?

Very nice setup.

Any feedback now that you've had it for more than a year?

I've been goin' all out working on my V20, but haven't pulled the trigger on spot lock (at least not yet!)
