talked w/ a guy last season about his 8 hp 2 cyl. Johnson,1995. Says he wants 450-500.....I say lemme think about it. That was last season. About two weeks ago, I'm doing a job in the same neighborhood and I swing pass 'ol Dans house to see if he still has the motor. He's right out in the front yard and I ask him. He tells me late last season the boat sunk at the dock of course taking the motor w/ it. He says it was under water for about 3-4 hours, he retrieved it and immediately administered first aid, then put it away for the season. Mid April [ this year] he tries to start it and it's locked up.....he says to me ,"ya wann it?" I look it over briefly and say sure, into the truck it goes. Get it home, put a breaker bar and socket on the flywheel, click it into gear and put my foot on the prop. It came loose in about 2 seconds. Next I check for spark....good spark....Through on the gas line and it comes to life on the 3rd pull. Will only run on full choke but really doesn't stay running. Drop the gas out of the bowl, things don't look to sanitary so I go 19.00$ for a carb rebuild kit and cleanout. Bolt the carb back on squeeze the ball and it starts on the first pull! Amazing. Idles like a sewing machine, strong piss stream and revs nicely. Gonna bolt it up to the tin boat to see how she does under load. If she passes the tin test....I've got my kicker for just under twenty bucks.
