Gas Lines Changing

Hey all,

Spring is finally here in the Northeast and looking to get the cover off the V and start some much needed work. A major project I feel is changing out the gas lines. Is this a difficult task??Anyone done it??And any suggestions as to where I can pick up the lines???Any help would be greatly appreciated..

There's a few guys on ebay that sell fuel lines by the foot ex. 3/8" class A fuel line is $1.25 a foot compaired to west marine at $3.59 a foot..As i understand it class A fuel hose is fire rated and Class B is not..

Your local NAPA dealer has a lot of marine parts at ok prices also.
When you remove the old lines tie or tape the new line to it when possible and pull the old out, the new will now be in its place.
Don't forget the vent hose also!

Double clamp everything and you should be fine!
 
Take a small peice of coat hanger and bend over about an inch on both ends and shove one end in the old hose and one end in the new hose. Then tape the two peices of hose together. What happens when you try to pull the two hoses aboat the bent coat hander trys to unbend in the hose and you cannot pull them apart without ripping them up. That will help keep them togethr if you have to give them a good tug when feeding the lines through. You will have to cut about two inches off the new hose because you cannot pull out the coat hanger.
 
I actually did change mine. All i had to do was to remove the gas tank cover(had to anyway, i recored that one) and you'll see all the lines.Remove also the starboard side plstic rod holder and is all open for you. I got my lines from Fred Chall Marine. They run a special on EVERYTHING tomorrow Saturday. Good luck, is an easy task.

P.S. Get marine grade hoses, not auto stuff. They will last you for good 20 something years.
