Gas smell

Hey fellas I am posting this for my dad who owns a 1987 24 Grady white Offshore. In June we drained the fuel tank and changed out the fuel feed line to the engine just to be safe. Now we refilled it this weekend and there is a heavy smell of gas in the bilge but no heavy odors from the compartment where the tank is located. No gas is in the bilge and after a day the odors are gone. We are very concerned and at the point of pulling the tank as it is original but know its a heck of a job. Any diagnostics to rule out the tank and potentially isolate a problem? the fill line and vent were not wet after fueling and no signs of gas evident on the top of the tank etc.. Its foamed into place so checking below is not possiible. this sucks

Ck all hoses for leaks or if they are clamped tight, and double clamp! When you cleaned the tank out did you use a new gasket on the sender? Did you put the gasket back on the sender?? I forgot mine :zip:

Maco we actually siphoned the gas through the fuel line that runs to the engine so we didn't need to remove the sender. We are considering changing out the vent and fill line but the boats a walkaround and they are snaked below the floors with very limited access anyone have any success with pulling this type of heavy walled fill line before???
