Gas tank

Wellcraft V-20 Steplift 1979, Does anybody know tank capacity and dimensions ? And any good source to get a replacement tank.

Mine holds 60 gallons in my '79 Center console. It was just replaced when I bought the boat but unfortunately I don't know who made it. I just know it's black coated aluminum.

I can't quite make out the 1979 specs but the 1978 and 1980 Cuddy list a 46 gallon tank. The Fisherman's of those years list a 60 gallon, like Squids said.

I'd expose the top of the tank, take measurements and see what size you may be comfortable with.

Moeller has many to choose from, look at these in the 50 to 75 gallon range.
Pick the one of interest, click on "description" and then "diagram" for real dimensions.

Shop places like Jamestown Distributors, West Marine, iBoats and even Amazon.
Or simply do a search, for instance with the 60 gallon tank. "Moeller 032560".

RDS in perry Florida probably made the original, they have a web site or u can call them.

If you do find a data plate, it probably says AFP, but they became RDS.

Shipping might make it too expensive .

I always thought that it was 46 gallons, but looking at the brochures posted here they all say 60 gal. I started uncovering it yesterday and I honestly don't think is a 60 gal tank, it didn't even go all the way forward as to the hatch size, it's about 16 inches shorter. Any ways, I'll be happy with around 40 Gallons, Anyways I seldom go to Bimini any more.....

RDS, 40 GAL: $450.00, 55 GAL: $600.00

I think I can get it custom made here in Miami by Sunshine Tanks in around $600.00, 55 gal

Be careful on the moeller, somebody put one in and the fill & vent were facing the wrong way, ended up with intake toward the bow and fill toward the stern. Not saying they don't make the right one, just double check before you commit

thanks for all the replies, I'm in the process of quoting w/Sunshine tanks, will let everybody know how it went, price etc. I also manage to obtain an original drawing on the 46 gallon tank, I will try to post it for future reference, the 60 Gallon I would imagine is basically the same just longer. I might try to make the 46 Gal just a bit bigger, maybe to 52/55 Gal.

I've got the tank, it looks awesome painted in black, however a little bit pricey compared to the price RDS quoted ($650.00 vs. $450.00 + shipping $82.00) I decided to make ii here in case of any problems I can go back to them.

However I have not installed yet because the bulkheads in front and back of the tank were not originally covered in fiberglass so they are rotten, now I have to remove the wood and remaking using Divinycell which is a type of foam they use nowadays (pricey SOB), but it rains in Miami every afternoon so who knows.
