Hammer's Project V

Ok, well this is what is done so far guys. I was a bit inpatient waiting on my friends soda blasting machine, so I had the local crackhead at the boat yard sand blast
the hull. He did a good job, but sand blasting really can ding up the hull. I first used a gallon of Petit barrier coat and didnt like the results. The paint goes on nice, but to thin. So I went out and picked up another gallon of barrier coat, but went back to Interlux 2000E. Works much better, goes on thicker hiding any imperfectinons from the sand blasting. Its still a quick flip V, but I want the work done right before I sell it. I want a smooth and perfect bottom.

30 years of bottom paint.

First coat of Petit Barrier coat. Looks good in the picture, but I seen some spots that I wasnt happy with.

Not happy with the results of Petit barrier coating.

Went out and bought Interlux 2000E barrier coating and applied same. Also filled in some pitting from the sand blasting.

Filling in some more pitting from the sand blasting, that the Petit barrier coating was suposed to fill in, but didnt.
So I filled in the pits, but also adding in the 200E Interlux that works much better.

Well, thats what Ive been doing for the last few days.
Didnt even get a chance to take my real V out. :-[

Totl cost over the weekend:

Sand blasting. $100.00
Petit barrier coating: $70.00
Interlux Barrier coat. $70.00
Misc. mixing pale, gloves, $10.00
3MM body filler $25.00

Total $275.00 :-/ :'(
I hope I get this cash back when it sells.

$275! Heck you got off cheap!!!!!!!!!! I wish I could have gotten the V blasted for $100, I would have done it years ago!

Looking good there! ;)

She would look alot better with a bow rail. Hint...Hint. ::)

Gotta decide if I should just compound and wax the sides or wait and paint maybe. Already have the boot strip and new Wellcraft decals. ??? ???

You are doing good Mike, and you are learning to, that is going to be worth a lot more than what you sell the V for ;)

Will have the bottom paint on in the moring. Gonna do a quick sand then finally get the bottom done, then decide if i should boot stripe and decal it or wait and paint the sides.
I did get teh bottom paint for free from a fellow boater. Some type of Interlux brand. Priced at 199.99. So I did save money there.

She will look better once teh bottom paint is on. Once teh hull is done, I guess I gotta move onto redoing teh fuel hatch cover.

Got off from work at 6am and went straight to work on the V. Finished sanding and put on the bottom paint. Will move the jacks and touch up and teh bottom will be dry. Not sure if I should put on the boot stripe and Welcraft decals or paint the side. The sides are chaulky, but I brought the shine back in on one spot with some compound.
Ok, Off to bed.  ;)

I still think you should keep this one and sell yours! Then you know you are all set for years to come! ;)

I missed the pictures you added, it looks great. I would buff the sides. Paint will be more money and I think prospective buyers rather see orignal gelcoat.
