Hey Spare

Spare, I just bought me one of them there fancy ultrasonic cleaners(just a small one for injectors and carbs). What chemical do you use in yours for cleaning carbs and such? It's only a 2.5L one I bought, but I figure it will work well for cleaning injectors and sall carbs like I seemto be doing alot of lately(gotta love ethanol and all the crap it knocks loose). I figure I can use my parts washing fluid for the initial cleaning, but what should I use for the fine cleaning?

ferm, i use a 50/50 solution of simple green, works pretty good. mine is a harbor freight cheapo, so i soak em in carb cleaner first and then in the ultrasonic. talked to a guy the other day who was using a strong vinegar solution and swore by it, so i might try that next.

Gotta be careful with the Simple Green. It says right on the label not to use it for carbs.. something about the caustic they use. That being said, I've never had a problem with SG on anything I've used it on...so who the hell knows...

Frem...I know it's a dangerous thing to do, so only do it OUTDOORS, but I got one of them thar ultrasonic thingamabobs about two weeks ago, and I used a 75/25 mix of gas and Seafoam on the plastic carbs on my Johnnyrude. Worked very nicely. (Just don't smoke around it...lol)

I've heard that a lot of ppl use alcohol..but I have no personal knowledge of that.

depends on how bad they are, my timer goes to 30 mi, my old one only went to 4. I let it run for 30, then take a look at them. Don't let it sit in the water over night, the purple stuff will chalk them up
