Hi all, I like the wellcraft boats and don't know if I want a cuddy or a center console or what.

I have never been on a center console but I hear that they can be wet boats. With the cuddy it seems like I may lose to much fishing space.

I live in Hamptons Roads VA and mainly fish in the bay currently with a 19' renken and a 23ft stingray but a want a boat built for fishing that want break the bank account either. I think the wellcraft is what I am looking for but which one.

Currently I like boats with outboards alot more, but it seems like most wellcrafts are inboards.

Price wise what should I expect to see. I see a nice looking inboard in the forsale section for $4000 is that about what they go for.

If anyone has one I really want a 19-23 cc with a outboard no bottom paint.......I like yamaha alot....we can all dream right
 
Two years ago I asked the same question, CC or Cuddy? At the time I owned a CC Gruman and liked the ability to walk around the whole boat but I liked the idea of storage and a porti potti better. As far as being wet, look at CB's CC in the gallery, his boat had a dodger. Either way you go with a V20, I know you'll get a great ride. Bill Mc ;D
 
Only you can make that decision. For a center console, the V20 is very dry. Much more so than other boats of the same size class. As Mac stated, mine had the dodger for the front bow area which allowed for dry storage, and wind blockage.
 
I fished the Chesapeake Bay for many years. I have had both center console and cuddy cabin boats. If I was still there I would have a difficult time deciding between them. If you fish stripers in the fall, I would opt for the cuddy cabin. If you put it away in september, I'd go for a CC. Either one would be an Outboard. I had my fill of I/O's. But I like a full transom. I think MJ and a couple others did it right by hanging and O/B on a bracket. Tough decision, but you can believe there isn't a better boat out there for the chesapeake bay!!! IMHO

Everyone speaks the truth, only you can make the decision. I can tell you that I have been grappling with the same problem this past couple of years. I just used a 20 Mako center this summer, and the one drawback is the lack of porta-pottie. The women-folk just don't like hangin' over the rail. My better half is always with me, she likes the boating and fishing just as much. She never complains, but you can feel the underlying current.
I have the for sale sign on my Mako, and I went with the V20 I/O. I tried the Center Console, now for the cuddy. We'll see this summer. From what I have seen on this forum, I will be very happy indeed. ;D

P.S. My friend just bought a V20 Center...he doesn't want the better half to go! ;)
 
Well I don't stop fishing at all through the year (on purpose) just went last night 40 degees and raining. My wife rarely goes on the boat. With my current cuddy cabin no one has every used the porta potty. I want to be able to go 20 miles out on a calm day can I do this with either boat. Does one V20 have more live wells then the other. I am sure the cuddy weighs more but how much more? I prefer a single axle trailer without brakes.

Don't want to sound dump but I guess a v20 is exactly 20'....or are they a little bigger or smaller between years

Is it better to look at the earlier or later years or does it not matter.

Not really into to speed that much but I was wondering what is the minimal hp rating that I should consider.

Do these pop up all the time for sale because the ones I am finding locally seem to be pretty beat up?

I don't want to seem rude but what is a boat like your worth? Or what should I expect to pay for a boat like that? I can't tell the year but it seems to be clean and has a yamaha behind it.

I bought it for $6200. made a few changes. Mostly cosmetic like clean and paint. Trailer rebuild, then sold it for $9000 2 years later. :o It was an offer I couldn't refuse. ;) Now I'm looking again. :'( :-/
