I found one!

Unless you live in California, this may seem ridiculous, but I've spent quite some time trying to locate a V-20 that was worth it's asking price. I found one about two hours from here that was being sold simply as a "Wellcraft". I called to ask if it was a V-20, and was thrilled to find out that it was. Blah, blah, blah... now it's in my driveway.

It's a 1980 model with a 305 Chevy engine and Volvo Penta 280 outdrive. The hull is in great shape with the exception of some touchup work. The trailer, on the other hand, needs some attention. That will be my first project. I'll tackle the motor next, which starts and seems to run fine, but I want to check it out before I get offshore.

Anyway, you'll be hearing a lot from me in the near future. I've enjoyed following this site casually while I searched for a V-20, but now I'm going to dive in head first. I look forward to learning from you all and sharing passion for this boat.

Congrats on finding your boat. I too spent some time looking before I found my boat. All the boats seemed to be on the east coast. There is a wealth of knowledge here on the site. I'm a photo nut hope you start a gallery and post pictures of you projects Bill Mc ;D

Good work, CP2...that 305 outta push her good...

Suggestion;...find a certified marine technician and make him your best friend...take him COLD BEER ;D....

let him:
Change oil & filter
Install new water impeller
Inspect & change lower unit oil
Compression test all cylinders(mui importante!)

Let him do all this the first time and let you watch if he will...he may spot things someone less experienced could miss

Good luck w/your new love...welcome to the "brotherhood"....tightlines...calm seas...yada, yada, yada :D

Hey there big boy!! I am glad your here to play! I am getting tired of that chumbucket fellow, and I am looking for a new to have fun with!
Must own V20 and want to share good times!!

Welcome to the site!! :-*

Don't fret CB, we all know that MJ is just a boat ho! ;D

Welcome to the brothahood, Cliffpaul! :D

CP@ congrats on the boat, I saw one the other day at Brannan Ilsland and talked to the guys using it, they said the owner of the boat never took it out, so they used it all the time. Kinda sad the shape it was in, but at least it was being used instead of sitting.

I have a 79 with the 305 motor as well, got it about 4 months ago and simply love it.

Congrats CP!! Let me know if you need a hand getting the boat cleaned up.
