I'm into it now!

I started ginding out the stress cracks in the deck today. I'm using my rorozip and a 1/4 inch rounded fiberglass bit. It works great, but does anyone know if I need to feather them out or not. I'm going to use West System with microlite additive. My plan is once I fill the cracks is to skim coat the hole deck, sand smooth and texture the deck. Here's a few pics

I'm not sure where to start here though (inside the molded deck boxes). Do you think I should be able to skim over those cracks with epoxy or do you think the cracks have to be ground out? I also was wondering if you could permanantly glue a hatch liner inside the boxes.

Ground down most of the cracked up gel coat in the fwd of the two deck boxes, what a pain iin the A$$ that was, stuff blowing back up in your face. I'm going to try and document the progress in the gallery, pg.4.

Don't worry guys, Iv'e got all my battle gear on; cartridge paint resporator, safety glasses and a long sleeve tee shirt(not my new v-20 shirt). Iv'e the aft deck box to do yet and the rest will be O.K.. The deck itself is not too bad to do. I'll keep ya'll informed.

Thanks for the concern,
Scott

Try hooking a shop vac to a palm sander with duct tape keeps the dust down good. You can suck some water into it afterwards and make it into paste. I like marine tex for filler its easy to work and sands good once dry.

Update:

I managed to get most of the deck straight and the first coat of epoxy primer on the deck. Today I removed the windsheild and removed more old stuff (unused antena mounts, old crusty snaps, sliding hatch, the thing looks like swiss cheese. I filled some more holes today. The West System is working out good so far. I'm still shooting for Mem. day weekend although I don't believe it will happen. I'll post some more pics in the next day or two if I get a chance.
