Just ordered my first flat screen tv

I ordered a Sharp Aquos 42" LCD HDTV yesterday from Sears. It should be delivered Thursday. I was on the fence between Plasma and LCD but the picture on the Sharp blew everthing else in that price range away. I can't wait till Thursday, its a gift to me and my wife for our 1 year wedding aniversary. Pretty cool wife letting me buy a tv and calling it an anniversary gift 8)

I would have picked LCD over plasma too. I would love to have one but haven't been able to do it yet.

How much are they running right now? I haven't looked in a while.

They've come down alot in price recently.  The Sharp Aquos is the latest technology in LCD with 1080P and Full HD.  I found it on sale at Circuit City for $1350 and had Sears price match and give me an additional $175 off for a promotion they were running when you use you Sears card.  I would up getting it for $1175 which is about $400 less than regular price.  I'm going to mount it above my fireplace like they do on "Cribs" ;D

you did good by picking LCD. We've had issues with plasma TV's on the boats we sell( not that we haven't had issues with LCDs) The plasma tv seem to have definite life span, they also create a lot of heat, so much heat we have to spec the airconditioning up one size to overcome the the heat. We've used Sharp, Sony, Sole' and a couple names I never heard of before. The Sharp is my personal pick for the best quality and service.

Thats good to hear Spare :) With so many options and choices its hard to make a decision. I think I did good and I'll post some pics after the install.

Sharps are nice but hate to tellyou that most of them all use the same JVC LCD panel lol. we have several in our schools that i repair and maintane they are all different brands the best we have are thePanasonic brand for pic and for good lasting life. but they are much higher too. we have 4 42" ones in a Cafe on a wall and they are super heavy hope you know the 42's weigh around 200 lbs hung. good luck and enjoy that tv bro.
