Does it make sense to anyone else but me that rod holders could be installed with the rod tips facing the transom. Here's my argument - You're trolling four rods in the rod holders. In the rod racks you got a couple rods rigged up with some different stuff in case you gotta work a topwater lure or live bait something. They are ready to go and aimed the right way. I'm getting ready to replace mine and looking for some thoughts on doin' this way. Whatcha think?????

No, talking about the rod holders in the gunnels. I got a cuddy with a liner in the cockpit area, so the boxes are built in rod lockers. Not on the top of the gunnels, but on the inside wall Hope that clears it up

Got ya! Yeah I think your theory makes sense. I also think that the stern would be less cluttered therefore making it easier to clear the rods from the holders.

I was going to and never did ??? Going to drill holes in the front bulkhead walls. This would put the rod butts in the cabin, and the tips toward the back.
I have side saddle tanks and this is the only way you could do it, If i wanted them.

But I decided to use the walls for my Gaff, fish stick, net, paddle, and boat hook.

I have made a rod holder on the out side gunnel of the windshield, that keeps my rods out the way.

Some complain that the water spray is bad for the rods and reels ??? Been fine for me for 6 years

Generally the rear of a boat takes less pounding than toward the front...I think that's why mfgrs usually point the tips forward so the reels(being heavier) will take less abuse...but I doubt you're gonna beat up your gear turning them around... ;)...sounds like a good idea as long as the tip of your rod doesn't become the STOP...let something else keep the rod from sliding backwards in sloppy seas... :)...

I have a cool design for some holders in the boxes. Kinda clamps onto the rod grip just above the reel. Gonna make them out of starboard, soon I hope. Or I'll ask MJ and CB to make them when thier factory opens

I had a guy from another site that wanted to pay me $40 to $50 per hour to do some Starboard repairs to some 40 boats that he cares and sells.

I said I am sorry that I and Chumbucket only work for are selfs. :o

If you were closer I would give it to you in a heart beat!!

That was another thing, he is up on the nort shore and I am on the mid cape!! thats more then a hour each way!

Then you have to think of everything, so that you have all your tools!!
I hate working on anything away from home cause this is were all my tools are!

Maybe I wil regret it some day?? But thats not today! ;)
