Hey guys,

It's been awhile since I posted. Anyway I'm seriously thinking about spraying my 76' (whole boat). I am thinking of either pale yellow of sky blue with off white above the rub rail. Has anyone ever seen a colored V-20. I think it would look sweet. I started filling a few holes with west system and cabosil today. The weather has got to do some warming up before I can do much painting. Let me know what ya'll think.

reelapeelin,

What type of paint did you use? How about prep work, holes and stress cracks? What did you do for non skid? Thanks

I'm hearing awl grip. I saw one thats beautiful looks brand new. Kinda like 450.00 for a V20 though. I'm thinking about it.

Check out CB's gallery in V20 center console. There is a yellow one. I prefer stock white with flat black trim! Bill Mc ;D

I don't no what is going on here??? One thread on what to use for wax and now on what and how to paint???

Who cares!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just fish and forget about it!! Just cause its pretty doesn't make it catch fish!!

Its all about the smell!! If it looks like a fish, smells like a fish it will catch a fish!!! ;D

My next topic is about what type of deck brush to use and what color ropes should I tie up at the slip with!!! :P

Shicks,
I havent seen a painted V20 in any color other than white. I would side with the pale yellow if you got the window frames powder coated white.

My ropes are Red to hide the blood!! and I use a hose and no brush! Just get the chunk stuff up and go again!!

Don't get me wrong, I'm about as hardcore a fisherman as anyone, But................................................Aint nothing wrong looking good while your doing it. This whole piant idea has kind of escalated. I started off pulling the old Evinrude off the back for a quick "shave and a haircut" paint job, and I was also going to paint the deck. The next thing ya know I'm talking about spraying the whole boat, who knows. Sometimes you got to say.............WTF. I really like the idea of powder coating the windsheild frame white, sounds original.

I wasn't going to weigh on on this, but here goes. I think I know something about escalating. :D If you're going to paint the entire boat, might as well explore your options. That being said, and this is only my personal preference, I like white or something very close to it. I chose to go with an off-white, kind of cream color, very close to what the new Gradys are painted. Didn't want to get radical, but wanted to cut some of the glare of white in the strong southern sun. 8) Nothing is as bright as brand new white paint. If you change from white to anything else, I think awlgrip is a must because it stands up to abuse without chipping, and thereby exposing the white underneath. Just my two cents worth.

Another reason to keepthe color as light as possible is to keep the temperature low. I once had a boat with blue marine carpet (enter guffaw here) and damn did it burn my po wittle feetsies! ;D

I think people who put carpet in boats deserve to be with people who put carpet in bathrooms.... ::)

Airborne, I sure hope that boat wasn't a V20 ;D

Oh...Seakindly...double-dipped ;D can you take 'em out? ???

And when you get 'em out, just send that little old honey-bucket on over here to old Reelapeelin'...I know just what to do w/one of those pesky things(my little wifey asked why we don't have one last time she was out...don't tell SK)...heck, old Reelapeelin' will even get the freight.... ;D by the way, freight'll be less if'n you could see yer way to packin''er up empty... :D

Yeah BS, ... the boat came that way. Neither one was my idea.

Rap, I sure hope it's empty and that's not what the previous owner meant by "loads of extras". :o

Well I started tearing her down. I removed the teak trim on the gubwhales, my rod holders and all my cables, hoses and controls to my engine. I started filling holes with west system epoxy. I assembled the stand today for mounting the motor on ot while I do all the paint work on the boat and motor. I removed the tilt and trim unit from the motor already and took it work and blasted and painted it. I'm still not sure on the color for the hull but I'm leaning towards light yellow with a navy boot stripe and navy canvas. If get the time to figure out how to post pics on here I'll keep you all up to date with the progress.
