lost ignition key

I left the key on top of the gunnel at the gas pump today and it's gone. Naturally, I don't have a spare. What is my best course of action? Obviously, I'd like to keep the cost down, but I really don't want the boat out of commission for next weekend. Help!

Thanks,
Aaron

There is a # marked somewhere on the ignition somewhere on the inside I believe. They are all keyed by a number.
If you cannot find it I think you have to change out the ignition switch. Not %100 on that but that is one of my friends had to do with his.

Find the most service oriented OMC (presently Bombardier) dealer in JAX and get in touch w/them...like Willy says, there is probably a number on the switch they can reference and make new key...worst case should be to replace the switch...let us know how this goes...

Check West Marine they have K/SW in stock in most local stores , This wiring diagram will help, Trust but Verify :)

So I should ask for the key switch / ignition switch to an OMC "red plug harness" type remote throttle control box?

It depends if you have the control box or not. Use the diagram as a reference and check your current wiring and see if it matches what you have. Replacing a Key Switch is not that difficult, remove your battery leads before you start, use the diagram I posted if it matches then you go to go. Remove the Key Switch and visit West they should have it in inventory. Worst case if it matches the diagram then I have a spare you can have for a long drive I-4 and Maitland Blvd ...

I pulled the switch out WITHOUT disconnecting the old wires and took some pictures of it with my phone. Then I went down and asked for one for my application. I used my phone pics as verification. It appears that the switches are fairly generic and the wiring is where it is specific to your application. My OMC had wiring diagrams online and places that people had posted them (including here). Anyways, I just transferred wire for wire from the old switch to the new one. That was an extremely easy process....and its a good time to verify your connectors are secure while you're moving them over...

I just installed the new ignition switch, but when I turn the key to ON, it energizes the starter. I must have wires mixed up, but can't figure out which ones. It's a 3 position switch - OFF, ON, & START.

Here's what I wired: S - yellow; C - purple/white stripe; A - purple; M - black; B - red; and the terminal with the rubber cap is also labeled M. I thought I had gone wire for wire but missed something. The old switch is slightly different than the new. Does anyone know what I missed?

Nevermind... I'm looking at NYMacks attachment now, but I think everything's the same as the diagram. Guess it's time to get out there in the dark and figure it out... fishing to do tomorrow.
