Made it to Florida

We arrived in Florida with the v20 in tow on the 8th. Trip went fine, When the semis went buy I could feel the bow of the truck pull towards the semi and then the other way when the semi went past the truck. Odd feeling but you get used to it. It took us 5 days to go the 1960 miles. We are in North Port near Venice FL. I saw a v20 in a guys driveway on Harbour Drive in Venice - you on this forum????? I have the boat stored down at All American Marina near placidia and plan to roam Charlotte harbour.

To bad I got to work this week, that ain't far from me. A buddy of mine keeps his 43' TORRES out on the end of BOCA GRANDE by the pass.

Nothing better then getting to the end of a long trip, and everything still there!

Glad to hear it!! Enjoy the sunshine!! Its 27.3 here right now :(

FERMANATOR - My Grandmother still lives on Boca Grande. She used to have a womens clothing store down accross from Fugates Polly Watson Shop => 1965 until 1998. I used to put pennies on the train tracks when the trains ran through town and watch those yellow Mercury Marine test boats tear aZZ around Charlotte Harbor. If all goes well I'll be down there tarpon and grouper fishing in June.

Gary - The V20 is perfect for Charlotte harbor . . . You won't be able to blast through the skinny water, but it's perfect for the pass and trips out to the 12mile School Bus reef. Have you been to Whidden's yet? It's a good spot to get live bait . . . thats the only place on the island that hasn't changed.

Boat is on trailer down at All American Marina near Placida - I can use the ramp nearby that puts me in Gaspirilla Sound not far from Boca Grande - may try it out tomorrow and fish more on Saturday with a guy that knows the area.

This time of year . . . there should be some real nice SeaTrout @ night under the lights by Uncle Henry's Marina.

This is whiddens . . . in case you make out to Boca Grande.

The edge of the golf course is loaded with Sheeps Head, Mangrove snapper and Gag Grouper. There's another spot that's inside the bayou where you can park drive the bow of your boat up into the mangroves and fish off the stern for BIG sheepshead, blackdrum, and sometimes redfish. The BIG reds and snook are in the real skinny water on the back side of cayo costa and the shallows inside charlotte harbor. Wait until May and the Tarpon start rolling . . . get your boat setup to fish at night. You can net your bait crabs and shrimp in the pass . . . You'll have no trouble hooking 80 - 120lb tarpon bouncing the bait off the bottom.

This is fantastic - THANKS for the help. What would one best use for bait at Henry's at night? The Boyou - down here do you mean in the intercoastal canal? How about the Boca Grande outlet - one guy here says its good at the outlet - tip of the southern islet. The school bus reef - how does one get the coordinates for that?

Oh, I found uncle henry's on the internet. - can I drive down there and fish under the lights from the shore or is the place all locked up and you can't get in there at night?

My buddy has his 43' TORRES docked less than 200 yards from there. Go past it everytime we head out. It is pretty authentic in there still.

Saw Henry;'s on internet - thanks - Do they lock it up so you can't fish from shore there at night???? I would prefer to drive there to fish under da lights?

Found Uncle Henry's on the internet - wonder if I can drive over to fish there under their lights or is it locked up at night

Gary - I used to fish off the dock. If you can find someone during the day and ask ahead of time . . . they've been very nice about it in the past . . . but that was a while ago. There was one light at the end of the dock (closest to the old tracks) . . . that's the one I like. You can net half beaks under the lights and use them for bait or bring shrimp. It's better than fishing in a barrel.
