NEW TO ME V-21

-Purchased a 1993 V-21 last week. Kept inside in high & dry since new. Maintenance records go back to 1993 and show the boat used about 6 times a year since new. What a shame. Looks like new!
-Vessel has a 1993 Yamaha 200 HP which will shove the boat to an honest 48 MPH.
-Have ordered a new Yamaha 150 HP Four Stroke which should be on the transom by end of June. The current 1993 runs good and has excellent compression numbers, but it eats the gas and is noisy. It will be interesting to see how the 150 does.
-Will post data on new engine once she is on and broken in.

Sounds like a great boat!!!

But I am not sold of the 4 strokes yet!
And I can tell you right now that even that the new motor will be quite.
But that 4 stroke does not have the get up and go like a 2 stroke !!
And IMO you will not be happy with the performance if you are use to the 2 stroke!! A 4 stroke 150 from a 2 stroke 200, I have a feeling you are not going to be to happy??
I have a 175 Yamaha and love it!! A whole day fishing at the vinyard is only about 16 gal, And I think they are pretty quite motors to begin with.
I top out around 40 and cruz nice in the low to mid 30's

Well Ihope your happy with it!! Really sounds like you have a great Boat there!!
Good Luck and keep us informed!!

Congrats on the new boat, 'Boat ;D

I ran my noisy, gas guzzling 2-stroke 200hp Johnson out of gas yesterday at the "Worlds largest inland marina" here in Texas yesterday. Luckily I'm a fair swimmer and my Yukon has 4-wheel drive. We sank that trailer and she floated right on. I decided it was a good idea to race a personal water craft on the way back to the marina. Then, I needed a personal water craft to pull me the last 100 yards to my trailer. Oh, the irony. I think they were cheering (or jeering) because I looked good with my shirt off swimming with the boat...

:o Ran out of gas!!!

Thank god I have never done that!! I just added a 25 gal gas tank so when I go off shore I have pleanty!! That is still only a total of 65 gals

BIK, am I to understand that you were doin a Jack Lalane? ;D

Sailboat -- welcome. I knew if I held on long enuff, the V21 camp would send reinforcements. 8)

I look forward to seeing your performance specs with the 150 4stroke. Do you have a fuel flow meter?

Around the holidays, a jolly man in a brown suit and a big brown sleigh brought me one, but I haven't hooked it up yet.

I hope we can get peformance charts for all the different hull/engine configurations posted on this site, eventually. :)

Sure, I'd like to think I had Jack's poise and carefree attitude while I jumped off the bow into the agea bottomed marina to avoid having my dead boat crash into the $35k boat next to me while they pulled them out 3 across at the ramp. ;D

OH ... Somehow I was picturing you runnin out of gas ... jumpin in the water ... with the bowline clenched in your teeth ... towin your v20 back to the ramp ...while racing a jet ski just to make it interesting 8)... until you ran out of steam with just a 100 yards to go ... only to be dragged across the finish line by the jet ski in the agony of defeat and utter humiliation. :-[

That Jack Lalane did do some amazing stunts like pulling strings of boats for considerable distance while swimming with the lead boats bowline clenched in his teeth. 8)
