NJ canyon trip

I was invited out on a friend of a friends 50' Ocean for an overnight trip to Toms Canyon. We got 10 yellowfins and 2 big longfins in daylight trolling. No tuna on the chunk. I stayed up all night getting bit off by sharks, I got a 150lb blue to the boat to be cut off. At 2 am, with everyone else sleeping , our deep swordfish rod went off. I had a big fish screaming on an 80W for about 5 minutes while groggy people came to their senses. We were late to getting off the ball and underway . That screaming fish doubled its speed and then it all went slack. Reeled in the bait. the hook pulled from the crimp. the bait still attached by a nose wire. definitely not a shark. Bait looked like it was down a throat. Oh well, better luck next time.

Saw a dozen or so minke and humpback whales and uncountable porpoises. Yellowfins right under them. Check out the video...

Oh, the tuna that is being held up in the photo is the big longfin, pushing 60lbs

Great trip Chuck, I guess you will be invited back since you were the only one awake on the deck. Looks like a 16' beam almost could hold a V-20. I see you ran out of Barnegat a lot different ride then a V-20.Congrats on some good fishing!

I would label that trip EPIC. The big sword would've made it super epic, but that is how it goes. Great job and thanks for the vid and story.
