no fishing license

Has anyone else heard about this deal that starting June or July fishing licenses are being done away with in Florida?I thought I heard something about that on the news but was half asleep and never heard anything about it again.

Thank God that editorial was just her opinion and not the governments. It's about time that someone at least tried to reduce the annual fees that the evergreedy states and federal government are constantly imposing on fishermen all over this once great Country. The latest and worst of course was NOAA imposing a Federal Fishing license on everyone, under the guise of needing the funds to properly manage the ocean fisheries stocks. (Personally, I always thought that God did a pretty good job of that). I wonder if NOAA is effectively supervising the massive Striped Bass fish kills off the coast of North Carolina? :head:

I want that NOAA thing about the federal license crap! Got a link, post it.
Sneaky as them bastadges are, it is probably already in the mix.
Normally, there is not enough money in the (these) states budget to survive by themselves to police/enforce offshore regulations. On the flip side, the federal people usually employ the state to do the same enforcement.

Tsubaki, Last year NOAA required everyone that fishes offshore to "register" so that they could do an accurate headcount on how much fishing pressure was put on various fish species. (How they intended to do that was beyond me, since whenever I go fishing if something isn't biting I just switch over to a different type of fish... Fluke become Blues become Stripers, etc. so how the hell will they know what's biting that day?) Anyways the "registration" was free last year but at the time they said that they foresaw that in the next year (2011) it would be $15 for the registration. So this year, unless the public outcry has caused them to change their minds (fat chance) you'll have to pay a $15 fee to register to fish offshore (salt) waters. You can call it a registration or you can call it whatever you want, it is, in fact, a national salt water fishing license. Thank all the enviormentalists and tree huggers for this one. The Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation Act, that was never intended to be used for this purpose, is how they are justifying this BS. Go to NOAA's website for full details. :cen:

The second link is the one that tells you the fee.

I htink the fee was only applicable to states that didn't allready have a salt water liscense, that was one of the reasons NC started having one, so it would be expempt from teh federal requiremnt

Spareparts, you're 100% correct. Several states started salt water fishing licenses or registrations exactly for that reason, so their states population would not pay the federal government money that they (the states) could collect for themselves. What a bunch of greedy, slimy, bastardos.

In MA, we now have to get a license for saltwater. First year for this. Got mine last week. I would feel better if the money went to stop the crap off of NC.
