obama fishing

did anyone here the obama wants to end recretional fishing he wants to have an executive order passed to stop fishing, is he friggin nuts

Step lift - relax...no one is going to end recreational fishing. This whole blow up started when an conservationist writer wrote a piece for ESPN which was later clarified by ESPN editor as just an opinion piece..... there is no law or executive order currently out there to "ban recreational fishing".

It wasn't the O directly, but plans are in the works to SEVERELY limiot recreational fishing, and these plans began under Bush. When the NMFS, NOAA, SAFMC, and most other fisheries management divisions were put under the department of commerce whose main goal is commercial interests, the balance changed. The article was over the top, but was written to try and get people off there hind ends and out there voicing there opinion that they want to be able to fish and not only be able to get fish from a market.

And I'm sure ya'll been keeping up with the SAFMC regulations this year, from 3 to 200 miles offshore from North Carolina to Miami Fla.
Rec fishing is, to say the least in the ****ter (toilet).

NO Red Drum (Redfish) harvest, indefinite.
NO Red Snapper harvest after 1/04/10 and for 180 days after and expected another 180 days after.
Lots of other goodies (different Grouper and Snapper) had been removed from the keeper list, you gotta see and keep checking every few weeks.

And it is not just those organizations, the Obamination has promised certain organizations that he will use the executive order to implement closures of areas, restrictions etc. as they have been unable to get the anti fishing/hunting groups agenda thru the legislature
Though there are some exagerations in the one article you can go on the major sport fishing sites and find out about how those organizations are using the power of regulation thru the Fed with the two leggers agreement to get a lot of long standing agenda items pushed.

And you people who cling to your guns, religion, fishing poles or whatever you serfs cling to be d@med

The silliness of the laws that have been thankfully voted down this last year in our State astound me and constantly make me wonder from where they originated, both pertaining to firearms rights and hunting/fishing.
And I thought Hillary was the anti-Christ.

Anti Christ? No

what he is, is the reincarnation of the progressive(read socialist/collectivist) groups that since the early 1900's have tried in various forms to fundamentally transform our nation into a socialist society and to redistribute the wealth, to collectively control our means of production, our banks, our health care and to create a cradle to grave government run life for Americans.
what he is, is a liar, decieving by talking out two sides of his face at the same time to say whatever he has to, to do whatever he has to, to get this agenda thru, he knows he only has a limited amount of time before Americans wake up, you see this same crap has been tried twice before in major ways by US Presidents who also were liars and decievers, Woodrow Wilson and FDR. One nationalized our banks under the authjority of the Federal Reserve and got social security started without constitutional authority and did it by taking advantage of an economic downturn and threatening and coercing the Supreme Court to yield to the progressives in the Congress and the Presidency.
The other used even more dangerous tactics including forcing Supreme court Justices out of Office to promote his second constitution and the New Deal. used Unions to force any reluctant congressman and senators to march to his tune.
It is because of him that within months of him leaving office the nation enmasse voted for a constitutional amendment in all 50 states to restrict the presidency to two terms. It is because of him that while the world went thru a depression our nation went thru a Great Depression that lasted many years after others economies had turned around. Redistribution.
It is why the two legged snake we have in our highest office today is one of the most dangerous things to ever happen to our nation.

I'm sure, as always, we will get over this.
Only thing that bothers me, is that this outcome was voted for by the masses.
You know them, they are in front of you at the red light, next to you in traffic. Makes you feel good and safe.

Agreed Tsubaki, I study and read a lot, I am scared for us all. sometimes I need to vent, its good to have friends to listen once in awhile.
Now how about that Ozzie? Darn good looking fellow ain't he?

this is how it starts .... with talk ...then a few regulations at a time...a little nudge....it is called progress... as in the movement ...check out the farmers in cali. no water ,over a smelt...

The ESPN article was extreme right wing, and the above article is the polar opposite. The o is not directly out to ban fishing, but DC has been working it's way towards it for many years now. Do some research on the islands in the stream project in the GULF OF MEXICO(hint: it's not about the song, nor any islands), or the recent proposals in MONTANA's streams. There are several organizations out thre that have been lobbying for years to get things in a position where just a few pen strokes from who ever is sitting in the White House can overturn our rights to fish.

RW a lot of what that gent said I agree with. Here is the other side of what he is not explaining, the task force is making recommendations to put off all fishing in large blocks of our coastal and inland bodies. Some of this has already happened under some of these same groups even under dipsh!t Bush.
Ask anyone here from the west coast and they will tell you. All over Florida it is happening and there are proposals being put forward in many other areas of our country.

Now here is what is really the problem. And this article does not mention it. Obamination has already repeatedly said to these organizations that we cannot depend on the legislative process and that he will take action with Executive Order. He will direct the criminally massive federal government to conduct what he decrees to be right by DECREE.
I am not ruled by anyone, I have no King. I will die before I have a KIng. Our nation was founded on a Constitution, with strict limitations on what the Federal Government can do and with the progressives in both parties over the past 50 or so years they have become the ruling class.
This has to be stopped.
These Decrees, Rules, Regulations, Taxes, nanny state population control things are leaving a very bad taste in the mouth of every true American.
That is what has many fisherman, hunters, and others of more traditional values pissed off. Me too

Agree with you guys 100%...I think this has been a good thread so far about the problems that sportsman face in the near and distant future...please understand too that I am constantly forming and modifying my own personal opinion as I read more from the many sources out there including you guys that have been into this alot longer than I have.

To be honest I have not given this whole thing much thought until very recently....when I was out 60 miles in the dead of winter freezing my *** off and throwing back fat sea bass because NMFS closed it on what everyone swears was bad data I started to look alot deeper into how these decisions are made...

and please know that when I post different articles I am most definitely not saying "hey you guys are wrong look at what this guy said" it is more of a "hey what do we think of this?"

It would seem that everyone is in agreement (or should be anyway) that conservation is something that needs to be considered.

the problem boils down to what mechanism is going to be in place to see that through? NMFS is constantly getting bashed for supposedly using bad data at times so I guess its worthwhile to try to improve their data to make better decisions? So when they form an "ocean task force" to supposedly oversee these decisions by better interfacing with state, federal, local people on paper it sounds like a great idea, no? Of course with any good intention somebody somewhere will seek to take advantage and move along their own agenda. thats the part that blows.

Will be interesting to say the least as to how this develops.
