Prop question for evinrude 175

No, that one will not work for you. you say you have a 17 pitch now, and that one is a 25 pitch. And unless he reversed the pics, it is a counter rotating prop.

Word.

Even without the question of the reversed pic or counter rotating prop the 25P is a game killer. 4 blades = lots of hole shot, but lots of drag on the engine also. Your engine simply isn't strong enough to spin that wheel at the proper WOT revs. I would think the MAX for your engine would be a 21P 3 blade. Of course, you can't really know until you actually try a prop on your particular boat, but 25p is simply too much bite in the water.

I have a 1979 Evinrude 150. I bought the motor used with the prop, of course. How do I determine what pitch it is? I assume that is written on the prop somewhere? The boat is in the water, but I think I could find a way to swing it over against one side of the slip and get a close look at it.

on omc props, its on the hub right behind the prop nut. On most other props, its ingraved on the outter hub, between the blades, look around till you see a number that ends in P like 17 P, or if you see two numbers separated by an x ie: 17X15
