Hi guys ,I have a question about props and tubing
I was told that a lower # pitch will be better for tubing
I was running a 13 1/4 x 17 on a 115hp johnson while tubing, I had a adult on the tube and was having trouble getting him out of the hole abuot 30 seconds into the ride my rpms shot up so i backed down on the throlle tryed agan tnd and the same thing happen when i got back i checked for a spun prop but the prop looked ok (its a fixed hub) could it have spun without showing signs that it did,, I an going to pick up a used 13 1/4 x 15 and see if that helps with the hole shot

For a 115 I would think a 15 pitch would be about right. And it sounds like you spun your prop hub. You have to remove the prop and look at the rubber inside the hub to see if it spun or not.

Absolutely sounds like you spun your prop. You will not be able to tell by looking at it. Bring it to a prop shop and have them re-hub it. Not too expensive.

I pulled the prop and cant see any irregularitys i think i will line up a punch mark on the spline hub and another on the outside on the prop housing if i can duplicate the proplem and check to see if the marks are still lined up ,,if not i will have comfremed the spun prop

Gotta agree with TheFermanator. 15p shuld be about right for that engine. 17p sounds good as a speed prop for light loads, but when pulling a tuber you want the lower pitch. And punchmarking the prop is a good idea, just try to duplicate the pre-existing conditions as closely as possible.
