I hope this forum welcomes v-21 owners also. I just happened to stumble across a 1995 V-21 while looking for walkaround style boats. I wish I would have found this boat sooner. I will be taking the boat out for a sea trial this weekend. Anything in particular I should be looking for with these boats? I have read a few things about "stuffing the bow". Is this a big problem? I'm planning on using the boat for nearshore and offshore fishing, 2-30 miles offshore. I see that trim tabs were a factory option anyone here have those on theirs?

Thanks and looking forward to participating on the site.

Will, glad you found it. The V-21 models are totally sweet. I don't think you'll find anybody, including V-20 owners, that will argue that point. If you'll notice the gallery on the main page, there is a section that contains V-21 models. If you have some pictures we would all love to see them. Go check out all the sweet boats!

Make yourself at home and don't be afraid to ask if you have a question.

Later,
Blue

Congrats and WELCOME!

I checked out a '93 V-21, but a little beyond my budge. I like a lot of the improvements from the V-20.

My '87 didn't come with trim tabs, but I'll be putting them on this season. Previously I've owned one boat with and one boat without tabs and vowed to always have them.

Thanks!

The deck has lots of cracks around the inspection plates so I'll probably be replacing that first. I would like to add trim tabs but just don't see where?

The only other problem I see is where to store the anchor. I've been reading some topics on this and like the idea of having it mounted off to the side of the sliding door.

My friends still can't believe I'm selling my whaler for this boat. I just can't believe more people don't have them. I'm just hoping the ride as good as what I've heard.

Here are a few pics...

I love this cockpit...I'm hoping it will clean up well.

Will...I'd drive it around for a while to see if it NEEDS trim tabs...some boats don't... 8)

Man, that is one SWEET boat...hope you got it...only problem you'll have on this board is envy(I'm guilty)...

As w/any used boat purchase, hope you are/were able to compression test that Johnnie and look at the foot oil...

You can "stuff the bow" on a battleship...and as for your buds who can't believe the whaler to V20 swap, take 'em for a ride...then they'll get it...nothing wrong with improving one's station in life... 8)

I fish out of Tollers w/a buddy down there...hope to see you and your 21 sometime... :)

Thats a sweet ride. It has more cockpit space than any whaler! The only change I would make - and I am crazy - is to remove the graphics on the hull, and add a proper boot stripe. Good luck!!!!

RAP,
You know what I need tabs for? My friggin' crew of fishing buddies! They walk around, sit all on one side, and generally position themselves in just the right spots on the boat to screw with the boat's running. ;D With tabs, I can adjust the roll to compensate. The rest of the tabs functionality is gravy.

I do not have trim tabs on my V20, and I have thought I would need them. But after some playing around with the trim & Tilt I belive I can do with out them?? I am going to give it this season to see how my trim skills work and go from there.
You will love it!! And all the buddies telling you your nuts, they will want one to!! Just wait and see!!

Chesapeake...you make a good point...those unruly fishin' buddies'll tip a guy's hull as quick as they'll tip a guy's COLD BEER... :o...Tabs will fix the first problem...not bringin' beer will solve the other...I've done it...it works... ;D

What is the MAX HP rating on a 21...?

200 HP according the 1995 product sheet.

I'm already looking for a good deal on a 200 and I don't even have the boat yet :o

Willmorg,

HAPPY NEW BOAT!!!   She looks like a rack stored honey!

Like those coaming pads, too.

For the most part I would say it's in decent condition. It's been sitting in a broker's lot for 8 months and hasn't been cleaned. Nothing a good pressure washer and wax job can't fix.(I hope)

WELCOME WILLMORG :)

I think I saw that boat on BOATRADER.COM, last year.

Good luck on your sea trial. I think you're gonna like it.

I didn't have a sea trial before purchase, cause the boat was on blocks in the original owners backyard, and I wanted to buy it before he changed his mind about selling it.

My very first sea trial / shakedown cruise with my V21 was a 12 hour overnighter, covering 36 miles, and saw about a half dozen sharks to 200 lbs brought to the boat.

YEAH... I THINK YOU'RE GONNA LIKE IT ;D

Nice to see yet another happy Wellcraft owner in S.C.
Are you close to Charleston?
