Finally back on the water since motor went the week before memorial day week end. Bought a rebuilt 84 Johnson 150Hp. First hr. not over 1500 rpm., 2nd to 5th not over 3500rpm, 6th to 10th 3500 short 20 to 30 seconds WOT. Mixture is 32oz. oil to 6 Gal of gas for break in. Used about 46gal of gas plus oil so far :( . Prop is 15 1/2 x 15, hope to get mid 30 MPH range any one have a good guess at speed? Does any one have a manual for this motor what is its RPM range? Crusher

I've got the same hp and prop size. My cruise is 29-30 MPH at about 3850-3900 on the tach. My WOT is about36-38 at 5100 RPMs

Crusher, my '86 Rude 150 topped out at 39.9 mph at 6 grand trimmed ALL the way up and light load...W/a 17 pitcher... ;) ;D....

I played it safe w/ that old VRO, and DISCONNECTED the VRO...bought me an Accu-Mix bottle for $3.99 and mixed mine...highly suggest it to anyone w/ old VRO...OMC tech said BEST thing I coulda done... ;) ;D...

Thanks for the replies, My vro is disconnected thats why the guy that rebuilds these motors gets them. Can't wait for it to loosen up. After running that 115 hp yammaha at top speed 23 to 26 mph at 5200 rpm's, I'll think I'm flying. Crusher

Yeah, Crusher...you gonna LIKE a 150...that model will hit the gas tank pretty hard, but performance is GOOD!!...I had several people, including O/B techs comment on how well she ran... ;) 8)...
