Need to move and/or get rid of my 82 V 20. It has been on a trailer for about 8 years in my parent’s driveway. The house is in the process of being sold. The trailer cross beams have given way to rust even though I blocked the boat to take some of the strain off the trailer. The trailer is a single axle EZ Loader. I just raised the boat up higher on the blocks thinking that maybe I can replace the cross beams myself and move the boat to another location and buy myself some time to decide if I want to keep it, sell it or donate it to a charity.
Has anyone replaced the cross beams on a trailer? It seems straight forward to replace them. I searched Google and You Tube and could find any decent links for this process. Is it best to cut the cross beams and move the trailer out from under the boat to replace the beams or raise the boat high enough to replace the beams with the trailer under the boat?
I think a pair of crossbeams for this trailer will run me about $500 delivered from a distributor, not including new hardware. A new inexpensive trailer will run abound $2,000 which I do not have and is prob more than the boat is worth.
Any advice on replacing the trailer cross beams or other suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Bill
