Reporter/V20 owner needs Louisiana info

Hi Guys-

It's been quite a while since I posted anything, but I have a 1974 V20 that has treated me quite well for the past 9 years.

I'm a reporter and have been covering the oil spill the last few weeks. I've already been out to the spill zone on a research ship and will probably be heading back to Louisiana in about a week (I live in Florida). My goal will be to see and document what's going on in the areas that are getting hit and those likely to get hit.

I think that I will be bringing my V20 with me so that I'll be able to get on the water and see how things look without having to worry about how to get access.

I was wondering if any of y'all are from any of the areas that have already been hit by oil? Would love to get some information on where to go, best boat ramps, good people to talk to about all this, etc.

Feel free to respond on or offline.

Thanks in advance.

Oil has already hit one of my most used fishing spots. Place is called Marsh Island. Easy way to get there is a boat ramp in cypremort point. The island is a short boat ride from there.

rr, i also went to usf and graduated in 77'
go bulls

USF has some clout now. Class of 92. Yeah, I am just a pup. Back when we only had stellar basketball and baseball teams. The pigskin changed everything. GO BULLS!!

Sorry I can't be of assistance on the oil spill MSCHROPE.

Not so sure I would run my boat out there in that muck. The oil is one thing, but the dispersants are another. I have heard from some fisherman that are saying it is attacking the plastics and other petroleum-made products on the boat that it contacts. The other problem is there are so many "officials" out in those marshes and waterways, you won't get too far. Look what they did to the CBS reporters that tried to do what you are doing. They just wanted to take their boat out to some bayous and get a true first hand account of what is going on. They were stopped by the CoastGuard and were told they would be arrested. They said it's not us to blame it's BP making us do it. When did BP dictate what our CoastGuard does?! There are some very shady dealings going on out there. Not so sure I would want to go out there, but good luck in your travels.
