Simmons Sea Skiff boats

Has anyone ever fished on one of these? I went out on a 1966 18' Simmons powered by a 2001 50 hp 2 stroke Yamaha. We burned 15-17 gallons of fuel all day. It is 8 miles from the boat landing to the pass and we went out another 18 miles into the gulf. We were running 30 mph and did some trolling.

I apologize for the crappy cell phone pic. I got a crappy phone. :bat:

seen plenty of them around in NC, don't see many down here in SC. I think the Carteret Community Tech College in Wilmington, NC owns the right to the plans, they have a boat building class there. great boats, I've seen them built with cdx ply for work boats and seen them built with marine ply to look like a piece of furniture

Carteret Community Tech College in Wilmington, NC

that's in Morehead City, NC and yes they have at least a dozen of them maybe more nets boats they use for the college. But they have the old Atlantic Brand net boats, most of theirs are 17 and 19 ft with no t-top

here's a used one for sale and it has a t-top

My father in law had a Phillips work boat up until 4 years ago. Talk about a HEAVY boat, but solid.

Skools is right, its not Carteret, its the Cape fear Museum that owns the rights to the plans, and what ever county Wilmington is in, they have a community college that has a boat building class that builds them
