starting problem

My boat is doing some weird things. Sometimes the starter continues to turn after I turn the ignition key to off. (only after it failed to start) The starter often acts like it does not have enough juice to turn over properly.

I have replaced all of the power and ground wires from the transome back including all outboard connections.

I have had the starter rebuilt....I took rebuilt starter to Advance Auto and they said that the starter is good and it is pulling under a 100 amps

I have also installed a new starter seloniod.

The boat has two new batteries and when I attempt to start both batteries are on.

I will try and grease the iginition switch any ideas on my other problems.


Slow or weak starting
combined cold cranking amps are at least 1300 amps
two new batteries

on my evinrude enigine the ground it bolted to the starter housing.

On this engine it is going to the block itself. The bolt on the block is kinda of small. I think I will move the ground to the starter housing and go from there.

I agree, rule out the ground FIRST! Good luck! I hate it when that crap happens! That was the good thing about my "armstrong" starter with my 70 hp. Wrap a rope around the flywheel and let er rip! Two pulls and fire baby! I don't miss pulling it but it was very reliable!

1/2 pull when warm ;D
 
I moved the ground it did seem like it started better it has just be to cold to do much with the boat the last couple of days.

I will try and grease that ignition switch next. Should I just try and spray some liquid grease inside of the key hole. Or should I attempt to take the igition apart. It does not look like it comes apart to me

the thing about grease is this, it atracts dirt and then the switch will get all nasty!! The best thing is to spray some WD40 in there and get her moving good and if all is good then some light oil like 3InOne that will keep her moving good for awhile!!
 
Evenrude 150 96 model Will bad enginge ground cause it to grind down and drain batteries. Where do I find engine manual for dummies?
