Ray,

I'm pretty happy w/the overall performance of my Honda 150...have had it since '04...a little heavier than my '74 likes (which is why I'm anxious to try out trim tabs I've just added) and it isn't as strong outta the hole as the gas-suckin' rude 150 2-stroker that used to be on it...

What I DO like about it is it starts and runs flawlessly EVERYTIME and although I didn't have numbers (GPH, etc) I can tell ya I'm using CONSIDERABLY less gas than before...tops out at 42 MPH and cruises at 30-32 MPH...used to be I didn't leave the dock w/out toppin' off...now I'll run 3-4 trips before gassin' up...

Franco has a 150 Yam 4-stroke on his 20' CC and is happy w/his...hopefully he'll chime in here...

I had to put off repowering this year since I built a shop and have plans for replacing my floor and repairing/replacing my stringers. I am definitely going with the f-150 and I am figuring an average of 4 mpg.

If I had it to do over...it'd be an E Tech...which was not available in this HP range when I needed a motor...even more so now they've been out for a few years and proven themselves...

they are nice motors, but make sure you have a dealer that knows what they are doing with them.

In 07 we repowered with an Etec 150. Couldn't be more pleased. The top end we acheived was 46MPH at 5100 Rs with a stainless prop. Lumber has a 200HP Etec which is the same as the 150 with some computer adjustments. Just as cterrebonne says make sure your dealer knows what he's doing with the Etec. Billy Mac

W/two in college, it ain't gonna happen anytime soon, but I have an EXCELLENT Etech dealer...he's my HONDA dealer!!...and a large part of the reason I bought the Honda at the time...ya'll wouldn't believe this guy...everybody should have a dealer as good as Holden Marine...

Reel your are right that is why I said we repowered. I couldn't affoed it by my self so my father in law and brother in law are my partners on the motor. My ETEC dealer is the oldest Johnson dealer in Michigan. I research my options and one dealer was within two miles from my house. He did not know any thing about the digital dash. That is why I chose Lockemans.

Yes I know Evinrude and not Johnson makes The ETEC!

I guess the dealer comments are what may be going on, cause when we were at two different boat shows this year there was a general info type thing going on as to how Etecs are having some major problems blowing power heads very early in their life. Several reasons sited but the set up seems to be one of the major problems but not all of it.
Now the F150 Yammie and the Suzuki engines seem to be trouble free so far as I can find out and if I was re-powering today I think one of those two is where I would head. I have a dozen boaters I know that have the Yammie 150's in single or dual configurations and some with very high hours and love em.

I agree, But hard to beat the warr. on the new Suzys!!

yep its a 6 like yammie.

as willy stated prepping the e-tec properly has alot to do with their life span. I know this much from 1st hand experience to make an e-tec last. 1st make sure the dealer purged the oil system properly 2nd get a h20 pressure guage 3rd dont program for xd-100. 4th use any oil as long as its a DFI spec oil. 5th Run enging tuner through it every 300hrs. do this and years of enjoyment will follow.
