After they got the CAP on the deep water blow out in the gulf all the info was cut off up here.:bat: What is happening now with it still must be some clean up fishing shut down are there still massive effects on the pepole?? They realy didn't show to much to and as soon as they could they never spoke of it again it's even hard to find current info on the net. :head::head::head::head:

I have a fishing report from Cocodrie,LA. Never been better. It is somewhat amazing to me how it didn't affect a larger area, geographically.
I did however hear some predictions of the largest dead spot ever off the Louisiana coast due to the massive ammounts of water and such flowing into the Mississippi River. Kinda like the red tide we have in FL. I am sure our brethren in LA and MS will pipe in. I am curious too..

the reports I have heard said fishing is good and I believe all fishing bans have been lifted in the Gulf since late last year. However many reports say there is quite a bit of oil lining the bottom in deep water due to the use of dispersants. Who really knows though as it is so hard to get a FACTUAL news report on something like this anymore.

It's an election pre-year.. Do you really think that the press is going to print anything, no matter how slight, that might make the present administration look bad? They're so far up his rear they can see his stomach. :cen:

Sounds like the fishin and tourism is back up...keeping in mind the economy...I think they aren't talkin about it much because any mention of it puts a question in the minds of tourists who would go there...from what I've heard, I'd book a guide trip down there inna heartbeat...

fishin is good, beaches clear and rooms are full. bp was handing out checks to anybody who could spell oil. now the state won't let us go catch any fish...

We never saw any oil along the western LA shoreline. A tarball was found about a mile west of us, but analysis from BP Chemists said not from their well. My front yard is the Gulf of Mexico and I did not see a drop over here. I agree that the DEAD ZONE in the gulf is a bigger concern from runoff now. I've seen miles of dead fish floating on top out to 65 nm offshore, particularly in 2003. This year our fishing was off to a great start, then the large amount of runoff coming down the Mississippi appears to have either run the fish out or worse. With winds less than 12 mph we usually see green water on the beach and good fishing, now it's like chocolate most of the time.

Every river, creek, stream that has very little or no buffer zone from us is seeing the effects. We have killed some off up here by logging to close and eroiding away everything and letting the cattle near or in them ruins them real fast. Not a good spot we have put our selves into.:head:

Redneck, you aren't saying the Gulf of Mexico oil spill has affected rivers, creeks and streams in Alberta, Canada, are you?

Closest the closure (not oil) ever got to our town in the big bend area was 164 miles. Our fishing and scalloping is going gangbusters. All us guides are busy. Last year was fine too.

Not at all I was just saying that all of the water is in bad shape every were. lots of our water shed up here is feeling the effects of our ambition. We have had some pipe line breakes on some of our rivers and marsh land to they still have not recoverd. I hear every once in a while talk about putting rigs off of the west coast of canada. That whould be another huge mistake. I work up in the Northren Alberta's Oil Sand's plants and the amount of land they have dug up is the size of NYC or bigger. I just don't like what I have witnesed over the last bunch of years to mother nature we have been a little hard on her lately.

That oil is out there some were and it's not doing any favors. It's just like the Japan Nuke plant No news now eh!
