Will this trailer work?

I'm looking at a Karavan single axle trailer.. it looks a little small for the v20 but wondering if i can get by with it. It's in perfect condition and has nothing wrong with it, although it is a 1991 and the guy is asking $650.

The weight capacity is 2500 lbs.. and from what im reading the v20 is around 1900lbs without the motor and fuel and gear, correct? I've got a small outboard on it, a seadrive 1.6 (equivalent in size to a 115 i'd guess)

I need this trailer twice a year, once in and once out. It will go either down the block or about 5 miles to where it will sit for the winter (i'll jack up the boat on blocks to keep the weight off the trailer.

Is this a really bad idea with the low weight capacity?

I've seen it before...guys tryin' to justify buying an underrated trailer and starting off by stating the dry weight of the hull...keep in mind the gross weight includes the trailer's weight also...my gross weight is 4700 lbs....

w/the limited use you describe, you MIGHT get by, but if it were me, I'd keep lookin'...

The GVWR is 3080 and the trailer weight is 580. I'm not thrilled about doing it, but I've been having no luck finding a decent trailer in my price range and these last few storms have me scrambling looking for something.

If it really doesn't work I'll just block up the boat after taking it out and sell the trailer to get something else.

Check out Craigs list, there is a bunch of them good ones too. The one you looking at is too small. The boat i'm getting came with the trailer from Wellcraft and is 4000 capacity, 5000 gross tandem.
