Going to a auction sat. 6/17 and they have a motor from a city they are gonna auction off. 1998 Yamaha Hi Thrust 50 4 stroke T50TLRW. No way to ck it out comes with controls, guages and a prop. its sittin on a pallet. What could it be worth. I think its a 20" shaft. NADA says over $2,000 but not being able to ck it out. I called yamaha and they would not tell me what city had it and it only came with a 1 year warranty. 8 years old and a city had it, pretty sure fresh water but what a gamble.

So, the warranty expired 7 years ago, or are they providing a new 1 year warranty for the new owner?

Take a battery and a compression tester with you and check it out.

What are you planning to put it on?

no warranty now only came with a 1 yr warr. because a city bought it new. What to put it on , dont know right now...auction company wont let you bring a batt. what you see is what it is. thats it... Crap shoot. Roll the dice i guess. I watch it and see what happens...

I personally wouldn't take the gamble...probably many many hours on it. They won't let you even try to start it??? what are they hiding?

I guess if it's going cheap enough and figure it would need a rebuild...then maybe ???

I GOT TWO OUTBORDS FROM MY TOWN YEARS BACK AT ACTION VERY LITTLE $$ I DONT THINK THEY HAD 20 HOURS ON THEM , OUR DIVE TEAM IS IN THE WATER ABOUT 2-3 TIMES A YEAR THEY GOT A BIGGER BOAT SO I GOT THE MOTORS SOLD THEM BOTH FOR GOOD MONEY I SHOULD HAVE KEPT THEM,
 
I GOT TWO OUTBORDS FROM MY TOWN YEARS BACK AT ACTION VERY LITTLE $$ I DONT THINK THEY HAD 20 HOURS ON THEM , OUR DIVE TEAM IS IN THE WATER ABOUT 2-3 TIMES A YEAR THEY GOT A BIGGER BOAT SO I GOT THE MOTORS SOLD THEM BOTH FOR GOOD MONEY I SHOULD HAVE KEPT THEM,

YEA A DIVER TOO, CERT IN 1976 PADI,NOW A  NAUI DIVE MASTER, NAPD POLICE CERT DIVER MEMBER # 600.TANK INSPECTOR #2127 , ENCAPSULATED DIVING CERT, MORE CERTS THAN I COULD LIST MORE THAN 2500 LOGED HOURS AND I DO NOT LOG MOST OF THE TIME NOW ,ALL MY KIDS DIVE TOO, HAVE MORE TANKS AND REGS THEN FISHING POLES AND I HAVE A LOT OF POLES.17 ft ZODIC FOR DIVING NO HOOKS AROUND THAT PUT A HOLE IN IT ALLREADY A FEW YEARS BACK FISHING FROM IT  , CAPT - BENT YES ONCE
