Nice Dually

Just to say a few things about the new yammie 350s...

1.) Anybody know anything about them.

2.) A friend of my father's had twin jonny 350s on a 29ft scotticraft...remember the good old days...

The boat is nice, great conversion!! But the asking price is a bit up there for a old Sea Drive.

350 Jonnys twin no less?? Maybe 250's, Johnson never made a 350!

How about evinrude? What was the highest HP they made?

300HP 2 stroke V8 from 85- early 90's(92 I believe) in standard feeshin motor trim. They dropped back to the 250 in 93 for emissions reasons. They did offer some bigger V8's, but they were strictly performance racing engines. IIRC they offered a 375HP F1 V8 2 stroke that used 8 2 barrel carbs(The 235HP V6 used 3 of them, but the F1 used 8). And then the aftermarket has pushed them up close to 450HP, and some have sprayed them to 500HP(NITROUS BABY). The downside was that a standard 300HP V8 consumed a whopping 20-23 GPH AT CRUISE, it would burn 33-35 GPH at WOT( a 225 V6 burns roughly 22-24 GPH at WOT).

That 350HP YAMAHA is a whopping 740+ pounds in a standard 25" shaft configuration, and stands almost 7 feet tall. What do ya say, a 350HP YAMAHA bracket mounted to a V-20 CC:oh:.

I looked at a 27 Bastan Weilah one time that had twin 300hp V-8 Evinrudes. Man it was a nice boat, had a tower, all Northstar electronics including radar, and was prices the same as the GW I ended up buying.....I was scared of the fuel consumption, and rightfully so it would seem.

I knew they were V-8s. Just couldn't remember what HP and model. It was a 29' Scotticraft with twins; she liked fuel...a lot.

7ft tall!!! How tall are the Verados? They are coming out with a 350 as well. Its only a V-6 though. I wonder what that Yammie V-8 sounds like?

Thanks Ferm!

Didnt even think about youtubin it. The 350s are really quiet at low speeds and sound smooth when reaching top speed. I looked at a few Verados too. They sound a lot like I/Os. Both are the sound of power though! If only a V20 could take one of those.

I think the Verado's are I-6's aren't they? I bet they are close to the same height. Not that it matters cause they cost twice as much as my whole rig is worth.

Yep inline 6's on the big VERADO's. I don't know about now, but when the VERADO first came out they had a cast-iron block in them. Hence the almost 800 pounds in a 275HP outboard. Not to mention the VERADO is completely dependant upon the supercharger for it's HP.

Yeah I know about supercharger. But even the 350 Verado is a 6. I thought for sure it would be a V-8. I didn't know the older ones were cast iron!

every verado I've seen, including the proto type ones in mercury class( ididn't take the verado class, but they were in the class room) were aluminum blocks. they don't need cast iron to weigh that much, they've got enough crap on them on their own. The Verados are weighed less oils, filters, fuel filters, power steering actuator(that you have to have on the bigger engines) and prop. Bass and Walleye did a right up a couple of years ago where they weighed everyones 250 hp fourstroke with all the stuff that had to go with it to make it work(less controlls and helm). I can't rememeber teh specifics, but i remember the verados were over 100 lbs heavier than advertised rigged out, and less weight than teh Zuk's or Yamaha's
