We need to start a 60mph club.

I made a run down to the shore @ around 75mph. Distance of around 45 miles... Then I got there and got it off the trailer. Does that count?:hide:

LMAO, ya, thats what I figured ole boy did when he went 113.....or atleast pushed it off of a cliff....:head:

Huh? I give up, Genie has it Aye? Anything over 100 is just plain bragging.

Holly crap......I guess I am going to need to change the rev limiter from 4700rpm to the full boat 6500rpm.

Might get us to triple digits......

Did I fail to mention it was in a 38 Fountian with twin 750HP engines and full race outdrives and 5 blade props---LOL

But it was fast as Hell----My hair hurt from the wind burn:you:

Would not want to go anywhere near that fast in my V-20---even on the trailer---LOL

LMAO, glad to know this now....as I WAS thinking of running that Bravo 1 up to 7grand......:hide: I figure we have more than enough left to keep uping the ante if need be in the need for speed.:sun:

My V21 with current 150 hp Evinrude looper runs approx. 41 mph light with top down.

Off a cliff........... as I wrote, tough to call but with enough space, maybe over 100.

I saw 77 on the GPS in my buddies Skeeter Bass Boat w/a 225 V Max...that was on day 1...motor's run in now and she's toppin 80...

Problem is ...........the V's only rated up to 200hp.

So, I suppose you have to be an " outlaw" to run with more hp.
The most powerful 200 outboards are the etec HO and the Merc Optimax, both producing well over 200 actual hp at the prop.
Genie Ayer's boat with the etec HO I believe he said runs about 52 mph WOT.

Now as for inboards..........who would know how much hp ?
I'd really like to see more video of the V that was running about 70mph........was porpoising a bit, but I bet tabs would fix that issue.

What about a hopped up 280hp 2.5L Merc? Leave the 200 Cowling on and nobody would ever know. The V20 my trim tabscame from had a worked on Merc 2.5 and was running 55.

How fast is too fast for this hull ?

Since we've seen the video of guy running over 70mph, and just porpoising a bit.....I'm thinking maybe 80 or so........before even straight line flat water running become's truly " iffy."

At some point the hull might even go airborne, then tumble, spin, break up, and that's it.

Yup, this is contender for the most rediculous posting on the site.

I think 80 is doable. I know we could hit it in the v20, but 70 is plenty in this boat. Plus, not very often it can be opend up. BUT, it gets great milage:sun:

Is yours the V I saw in video running about 70 ? If so, would like to see more video !!

Not mine per-sey, I built it for a good friend/customer of mine. After blowing around a local lake for a summer, taking on all challengers, and promptly leaving them in our wake, it resides on lake erie now simply as a fishing boat, that can out run the storms...LOL

If we can get some smooth water there, and get it opened up, I will take more videos of it for you. It runs a Bravo 1 24 pitch 4 blade prop.

If your on lake erie, and see a mid 80's v20 with a yellow outdrive on it.....beware :)

Look for this guy.....probally one of the happiest V20 owners on earth:sun:

And he rants and raves how good the economy is on it.....turns very little rpm to cruise mid 20s with. And, that was really the point of the build, to save gas......

LAKE ERIE - is it ever flat or calm on Lake Erie ? I've been there when it blew 30mph for days on end, and that short steep chop of 6' completely closed off to boaters.

Anyway, sure if you can get more video, fantastic - show the rear wake so we can get an idea of speed, and from a dock with the boat going by WOT if possible.
Did you put tabs on it to cut the porpoising ?

Rarely is it ever flat enough to run that fast at Erie. It has had trim tabs, but now they work .....LOL I have a video of the wake, will need to dig it up. I have none from shore :( but, if I get the chance, i will shoot a HD video form the dock.
