In my marina, nose to nose with my slip is a boat that has a v-20 hull. Not similar, its EXACTLY the same. Windows/foredeck are different then the v20. Its made by Cruise Boats. Its old. Anybody know of this boat? Did Alim sell its molds to other companies?

I'll have to get a pic and post it here.

I saw a Chris-Craft V20 bein' towed thru Mt. Pleasant one day...spooky... :o...

But this is why I think there may be some molds around for a V20 hull(granted they'd be pretty old by now)...Wellcraft wasn't the only mfgr layin' these puppies up...

Rap,

Aren't those old Chris Craft modles "Scorpion" lots of bow flare but they have more of a pointed bow. Sweet

Shicks, honestly, haven't heard "Scorpion" name so don't know...boat I saw was "baby-poop brown"...tried to get a good look, but traffic was heavy and I was tryin' to get back to the marina so couldn't just follow...wanted to... :)...

The Chris -Craft has a little deeper V and if memory serves is rated for 300 HP . I have a friend who owned one back in the 80's . It is heavy boat that had an exceptional ride . I would say even better that my V20. The story that I remember on those boats was the Ex-pres . of Wellcraft or someone high up left to run Chris -Craft . When he got there they were rebuilding the line and they had someone re-enginer the V20 and came up with their own 21' version . In my opinion they got it right . It too was a great hull . It was a little slower out of the hole and top end . There is center console around here with a bracket a twin 200's ! ! Ihave only seen it on a trailer not in the water.

Fillet, I took a couple minutes to help with your question but could only come up with the following:

"Among the impressive list of prominent yacht manufacturers who have used Hunt Design are Alden, Baltic, Bertram, Boston Whaler, Burger, Cal/O’Day, Chris Craft, Concordia, Four Winns, Grady-White, Grand Banks, Hinckley, Lyman-Morse, Palmer Johnson, Pearson, Robalo, Royal Huisman, Wellcraft and, of course, Hunt Yachts."

That's from www.huntdesigns.com. I don't know if "Cruise Boats" is an offshoot of any of these, but who knows? Hi-Liner isn't listed here and those things are dead ringers (especially the 222) for a V-20 or Moppie, so there are probably others too. Kind of a past example of how Kia knocks off other auto manufacturers today perhaps? Interesting question though.

CT -

I was having a hard time researching "Cruise Boats" because if you run a search all you come up with are cruise ships etc.

I will take a pic this weekend and post it here.

BTW is the bracket on?

You have to change your signature line from Slow and Steady to New, Reliable and Under Warranty ;D

Thanks. You're not kidding, I can't wait to change my signature line but I won't do it until the new motor and bracket is on. I spoke to Armstrong factory today and they shipped the bracket on Thursday of last week, so it should be here Wednesday! The motor is ready to go, so I will be in once the bracket and motor go on, the saltwater washdown goes in and the bottom is painted. I CAN'T WAIT because the striper fishing is picking up around here very quickly. I will post plenty of pics!

If I remember right , Chris Craft had a problem with this hull. I think it was something to do with the width of the stringers on the IO version. It was a serious problem that caused the hulls to crack. I think the ob hulls are ok.

The V-20's biggest advantage over the Chris Craft in my opinion is the sliding hatch cover over the cuddy. It makes the cuddy so much more useable. Not to mention the Chris Craft brown is pretty ugly.

CT...DITTO on both points...that hatch would be a royal PIA over our sliders and that's the "baby-poop brown" I mentioned earlier...don't see the flare on that bow either...still in luv w/ my V20... ;D...
