Chiggers!

Here is a great home remedy I have always used with success in the past:

Continue to scratch the affected area vigorously until it bleeds. Continue this activity multiple times per day until you see some relief.

I dropped a couple trees. Hauled the logs out but had to put the chain under them to lift up on log hauler. Brush and raspberry bushes around.
My dad told me to put vix vapor rub around my legs. Says nothing will come near me then.

last time I had them on my ankles it looked like I got shot by a fully-auto bb gun! Nasty critters. Heaven forbid you get them on the private bits.

I swamped logged for 20 years. Use to dribble diesel fuel on my boots when filling my tractor. They can't stand that. When I did get some, I got a bar of Octagon soap and scrubbed hard, took care of them fast.

Octagon soap really works. I guess they still make it. When I was young we played in the woods all the time. Got red bugs a lot. My dad had something called Yadgers linament, smelled bad, burnt terrible but worked great. Pretty sure you cant find it anymore.

I'll have to look for that soap. Got them 2 weekends in a row. I was running my sawmill, so they must be around the log pile. Gonna get a weed sprayer and mix up some bug killer!! Now I'm gonna get back to scratchin

We call them redbugs around here. They are bad around tall grass and terrible in the woods. I had a friend that got them so bad he had to go to the hospital. got them logging in the swamp. They were in the spanish moss hanging in the trees.
