FICHT.... Good deal or not?

97 would be like burning your money while setting yourself on fire, and getting kicked in the nuts. NO WAY would I tell somebody to buy a 97-00 150/175 FICHT. They are worse than the beloved optipop(optimax). Starting around 2001-2002 they got alot better, but still alot of problems. When the FICHTS are running right they are some of the most fuel efficient powerful engines out there, but the downside was so many spent so much time not running right it isn't worth the gamble. The 200/225 had alot less trouble, but the FICHT name haunted them. Theres a reason that BRP dropped the FICHT name in a hurry after they took over.

Thanks guys..... I think I'll keep shopping.... I'd have about 2k in it before I could even try it out.... The whole reason for motor shopping is to get a reliable motor.... I don't think I could trust this one any more than my '75 merc 1150...

Again THANKS

I plan on running my Grady in the coming weeks with the current 110 v4. I bought it as a non runner so I'm itching to see. Next I'll be strapping my 130 on the back and giving her a good run. I've got my fingers crossed all goes well. She was a great motor before the storm hopefully she still is. If all goes well I'll be listing her for sale in NJ. I ran the v that was listed on here by my wife but she wasn't too keen on the idea if 3 boats in the yard.

Yes--run from the 150/175/200 Ficht---the fuel map for those engines were way to lean at cruise rpm=burn down.

For these motors--it was not if, but when.

The 150/175 were bad, the 200/225's weren't supposed to be that bad. The 3.0L FICHT was said to be a bit of a dog, but the bigger 3.3l was a powerhouse and tore up lower units left and right(pick your poison).
