fresh water tanks

POL_0009.jpg

I had to remove the rod boxes to repair some holes in the cap and thought I'd take a shot of my fresh water saddle tanks. its 3"pvc with the pump in the bilge. total capacity is about 5.5 gallons.

I have to ask a "rookie" question here. Why does one need a fresh water tank system? Unless it is for cooling the motor as I have seen in Ebay ads for boats with inboards,"fresh water cooled". So I am wondering why the fresh water tank.

i wade fish a lot (when i used to fish, lol) and would love to have a fresh water system to wash the salt out my reels as soon as i get back to the boat. the salt is very corrosive and a fresh water tank can add years to the life of ur gear. plus, since i am not completely bald, i like to wash the salt outta my hair also. good for cleaning fish on an overnighter too.

i used it a lot when diving for a quick shower and it is great for washing the salt off of your sunglasses. i am in fl when water temp is 82 and the air 92, you get crusty quick.

Ok and thanks for the info. Makes some good sense to me now and quite an ingenious idea also. Very creative. :D

Nice job Phat !     I like it alot -  and just might copy your idea ...  if I ever have the time.    I was wondering though -  can you hear the water sloshing around in the tubes  ???

That is a fine piece of work phatdaddy. borderline ingenius even. what pump are you using? I love it when all these little Mods get their picture took. keep em comeing guys...

i've never heard the freshwater slosh, but  i usually hear a lot of water sloshing while i'm in the boat.

This is the pump mounted on a temp bracket that i made out of pt fence board until i can do it right,  that was 6 years ago.

the top picture is the new pump, but i can't get the red x to go away.

nice job phat daddy! Did you add the door in the floor over your pumps? I was thinking of doing that also with the liner to make a nice fish box. lots of wasted space under there on the out board models. I priced it at $100 for the door and the liner. I was thinkin I would put a small pump in there to drain it out a thru hull. I dont want blood stinkin up my bilge. Thanks for the great pics!!

Looks good!! I love to have one also, but in 75 there were no rod boxes.
I have been thiniking of adding one up in hte bow area, but not sure yet??

That might be possible, its kinda tight up on top of the tanks. I had mine out last summer, that woulda been the time for it then!

if i have to ever remove the deck, the best place would be outboard of the stringers, you could run a pipe just about the length of the boat.

VERY NICE! I love it! I am in the process of making some out of 8" for mine as well. I am looking to the bow for location, but will check out behind my boxes as well.

Great job! 8)

8" PVC - how long young grasshopper? I'd like to have 10 gallons minimum. And Stink you are gonna need 10 too if you want to be able flush the motor, wash the boat and clean the salt outta your thong after a long hard day on the water!
